d2football.com Top 25 in Division II (October 31--after week 9)

https://www.d2football.com/d2football.c ... 0-31-2022/

Although Gannon is ranked in the the top ten in the Super Region, They still are not in the Top 25 polls. A win over California might get them in the Top 25. A loss to Cal would in all likelihood doom the Golden Knights' chance for Top 25 ranking and a chance for a post-season playoff slot. The game at California is quite important for the Gannon football program. It IS the Game of the week in the PSAC!!

PSAC Commentary

In the PSAC East, West Chester had no problems defeating Lock Haven. Perhaps such a win will motivate the Golden Rams to get their act together and makes things difficult for the Kutztown Golden Bears in their next game. If Kutztown were to lose to WCU, their playoff hopes will be out the window. It is an important game for the Golden Bears! Shippensburg remains somewhat of a mystery losing at home to East Stroudsburg, but it has been that kind of a year for the Red Raiders. Playing Lock Haven this week should get them another win, which will be of scant consolation. Bloomsburg never had a chance at Shepherd and in all likelihood will lose at home to Millersville several days from now. Millersville is capably hungry for wins, and they are ready to get another one up at Bloom at the expense of the Huskies, who at this juncture most likely will be glad to see the season over. East Stroudsburg will be the next victim to reap the whirlwind against Shepherd, as the Rams coast to the PSAC East crown. Question is! Who will they be playing for the overall PSAC championship, since the big win by Gannon over IUP has muddied the waters a bit?

Seton Hill finally got a win with a second half surge against Edinboro. Gotta wonder what happened with the Fightin' Scots! Speaking of Edinboro, they are about to absorb another loss at the hands of Slippery Rock, who could be back in the race for first place in the West due to IUP's loss to Gannon. Husky suspects there is some tiebreaker formula if needed, SRU with only one loss is also in the mix for a post season playoff berth. IUP, in spite of the loss to Gannon, should be OK for the post season, but one can't be sure if they will be in the title game with Shepherd. The Crimson Hawks should , however, have no trouble getting another win against Clarion. Lastly, in the Game of the Week on Saturday, it is imperative that Gannon wins over California, if the Golden Knights want to stay in the first place tie. If there ever was a team that is capable of playing the spoiler role, it is California who without a doubt had the toughest schedule of all teams in the PSAC this year and lost a couple of games against both IUP and Shepherd just by a whisker. The game is at Cal, and Gannon will have to bring their A Game to beat the Vulcans and remain in the first place tie. As stated, if there is a three way tie. there must be some formula for breaking the tie to determine who will go up against Shepherd the following week. Guess we will find out soon enough! Stay tuned!! Go see a PSAC game this weekend, if you can. There are a couple of really good games on the schedule. All the games are available to be watched on the computer or other electronic device. Husky hopes to be up at Kutztown to see WCU take on the favored Golden Bears. Have a great November football weekend!

Games of Interest on November 5th

#24 West Georgia plays at #7 Delta state in the Gulf South Conference.

#19 and still undefeated Davenport on the road takes on #5 Ferris State in GLIAC action. A real test for the boys from Grand Rapids.

#9 West Florida visits unranked Valdosta State in the Gulf South Conference. The Blazers are unranked, but they are at home and that might spell
trouble for the Floridians.

#4 Pittsburg State visits unranked Washburn in the MIAA. The Gorillas just might encounter some stiff competition from the Ichabods. it could be a very interesting game.

If Husky spots anything else of interest, he will post it. He is posting these games because all of them could have some effect on the selection process for the post season playoffs leading to the national title game.

PSAC Football Scores for November 5 (Week 10)

PSAC East

West Chester 28 Kutztown 9 A nice win for the Golden Rams, Kutztown will probably now be out of post season consideration.

Shippensburg 44 Lock Haven 0 As usual, Lock Haven had no shot.

Shepherd 37 East Stroudsburg 14 The Warriors led 14--0 early on, but that went a glimmering in no uncertain terms.

Millersville 25 Bloomsburg 17 Millersville wins another one deservedly but not without the help of the Huskies disorganized play
play and some questionable sideline decisions.

PSAC West

Gannon 25 California 13 The Golden Knights end up tying for first place, but will not go to the championship game.

Slippery Rock 28 Edinboro 21 A surprisingly competitive game. Go figure! Edinboro lost big to Seton Hill last week. The Rock
will most likely get a post season playoff berth.

Seton Hill 7 Mercyhurst 0 Seton Hill gets it second win, What's with the Lakers?

IUP 31 Clarion 0 Crimson Hawks playing Shepherd in the PSAC championship game Saturday, November 12, Week 11.

Husky picked six of the eight games correctly, he misfired onthe West Chester--Kutztown and the Gannon--California games. His record is now 62--25 for the season. His worst pick was--actually there were two--the WCU--Kutztown and the Gannon--California games. His best pick was going with improved Millersville on the road winning over Bloomsburg. As usual, there will be some changes in the schedule for Week !!due to the State Championship game match-up between Shepherd and IUP. The change will entail Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst playing one another at Mercyhurst.

Some Other Div II Scores from Around the Country

#24 West Georgia knocked off previously unbeaten #7 Delta State 52--42 in the Gulf South Conference

#5 Ferris State handed #19 and unbeaten Davenport their first defeat by a score of 28--7 in the GLIAC.

In the MIAA, #4 Pittsburg State beat stubborn, unranked Washburn by a score of 37--23.

In the SAC, unranked Newberry edged #21 Wingate 24--23.

In the SIAC, unranked Fort Valley won over #23 Albany State 31--21.

Still waiting for the West Florida (#9) --Valdosta State score, which was tied late in the game. #8 West Florida won 32--31.

All these games might very well have post season selection ramifications.

West Chester Upsets Kutztown

Kutztown now with three losses is probably out of Div II playoff contention.
