West Chester defeated Bentley of the Northeast 10 17--16 on a late field goal. Morw later

West Chester's defense seemed to be stubborn enough to hold off Bentley when needed.

#5 Grand Valley State (GLIAC} edges #3 Colorado School of Mines {RMAC} 25--22 with a Late TD
https://minesathletics.com/news/2022/9/ ... 25-22.aspx
An early season match-up of two highly ranked teams turned out to be what many anticipated. It went down to the end of the game, before the outcome was decided. See you all later in the day with more PSAC results and recaps. Don't forget that many of the games are streamed; and you can watch on your computer for free, if you can't attend in person. There are two interesting games today with Kutztown at Assumption, and Wayne state of the GLIAC is at Slippery Rock.

PSAC Football Schedule for September 10 (Week Two) All games are crossover games between East and West. All games have video availability. Check the home teams' websites.

Slippery Rock at West Chester noon
Edinboro at Shippensburg noon
California at Kutztown noon
Seton Hill at Shippensburg 1:00 PM
Clarion at Bloomsburg 2:00 PM
Mercyhurst at Lock Haven 6:00 PM

Husky's predictions will appear later in the week. The two best games of the weekend should be SRU at WCU and Cal at Kutztown. Kutztown cannot afford a second loss with respect to end of the season playoff considerations. It's a BIG game for both teams.

Minnesota state Edges Nationally Ranked (#16) Bemidji State
https://msumavericks.com/news/2022/9/1/ ... avers.aspx
There were a number of games featuring nationally ranked teams this weekend, and from the results it is evident there will be some changes, additions, and maybe even drop-outs with respect to rankings. This coming weekend has another slew of match-ups between highly capable teams. Husky will post these match-ups once the national rankings for Week Two come out. Will be back tomorrow hopefully with PSAC notes for Week Two. There are some early season crucial match-ups in the PSAC this coming Saturday. Also hope to make a few comments about the PSAC's first week.

PSAC Comments
The top teams in the PSAC won rather decisively as expected. Those teams would be Slippery Rock, Shepherd, and California. There should be no doubt after the first week that Bagent of Shepherd is the top QB in the conference. He started the season by passing for over 390 yards in Shepherds's win over Southern Connecticut. Not bad!! Gannon also came out of the weekend with a big win over Charleston of the MEC. West Chester had all it could handle with Bentley once again but did escape this time--as opposed to last year--with a one point 17--16 win. The Golden Rams will need more offense to stay in the game with Slippery Rock this coming Saturday. It was nice to see Lock Haven get a season opening win over Post. Seton Hill was not so fortunate and suffered a disappointing loss. Speaking of disappointments, East Stroudsburg, Millersville, and Shippensburg all had a tough weekend with all three going down somewhat unexpectedly to defeat at the hands of teams which they have in the past handled. Edinboro won a close one, and Mercyhurst had very few problems in their win. The big surprise--negatively speaking--was Kutztown's getting shut out by Assumption--a team that is never to be taken lightly and has been ranked in the Top 25 at times in recent years. Kutztown will have a big order with tryin to rebound from such a loss, as the California Vulcans are in K-town this coming weekend for an important crossover game. In one other game, Bloomsburg almost pulled off an upset over FCS Stonehill and would have probably done so had it not been for an ill timed offsides penalty that nullified what would have most likely been a game clinching interception. Overall it was not the greatest opening first week for the PSAC. The top teams did well, but there were far too many losses that would not have occurred in past years. Husky's picks for Week Two in the PSAC will appear in a day or so. If possible, go see a PSAC game in person. Ciao!
