PSAC Games on October 8 (Week 6) and Husky's Picks--33-14

IUP at California The Vulcans at home will edge IUP in spite of the Hawks coming off their big win over SRU Winning the PSAC West is never easy.

Bloomsburg at Kutztown Do the Huskies have a second upset in them after their win over WCU? Hardly! Golden Bears win.

Lock Haven at Shepherd Get the women and children off the streets. Suffice it to say that Shepherd wins easily.

East Stroudsburg at Millersville Marauders have played well the past two weeks, but ESU had a good game with Kutztown. ESU wins this game.

Shippensburg at West Chester The Red Raiders defeat the Golden Rams in a mild upset.

Gannon at Edinboro The Golden Knights continue their winning ways.

Clarion at Seton Hill Who knows? Husky goes with homestanding Seton Hill.

Mercyhurst at Slippery Rock Mercyhurst reaps the whirlwind after the Rock's huge loss to SRU on homecoming this past Saturday.

Starting times for the first four games listed is at 12 noon. Ship at WCU is at 2PM, Gannon at Edinboro is also at 2PM, kickoff for Clarion at Seton Hill is at 4PM, and as is often the case SRU hosts Mercyhurst with a 6PM starting time. All games--according to the PSAC composite schedule-- can be watched on one's electronic devices, if unable to attend game or games in person. Husky will most likely be at the nearby West Chester-Shippensburg contest.

Incidentally, Husky hopes to post a rundown on all the Division Two conference standings after all of next week's games around the country are completed. That could give us all some idea who is in the running for the post season at the midway point of the season.

PSAC commentary (Week Five)

As expected Gannon got themselves another win against Seton Hill, but the question is how will the Golden Knights fare in upcoming weeks against IUP, SRU, and Cal? No surprise that California rolled over outmanned Clarion. The Vulcans rolled up 59 points on the way to their win over the Golden Eagles. Now! How will the Vulcans do against IUP on Saturday? Edinboro on the road pulled a mild surprise by beating Mercyhurst up in Erie. The real eye opener was IUP's manhandling of Slippery Rock That was a good old fashioned country whipping by the Crimson Hawks inflicted upon SRU at "The Rocks" homecoming. How will IUP do this coming weekend at California? A win will for all intents and purposes give the Hawks the PSAC West title.

In the East Millersville got a lopsided win against Lock Haven. Millersville has been playing better recently, as witnessed by their game at West Chester. Shepherd had its hands full with Shippensburg and came away with a win, but it was far from easy. Husky would not be surprised to see Ship upset West Chester this coming Saturday. The game between Kutztown and East Stroudsburg was as close as the score indicated. Look at the stats. The Golden Bears were fortunate to come away with a win. Lastly, West Chester once again ran into trouble up at Bloomsburg and were upset by the Huskies 21--16. A blocked punt and an inopportune fumble led to two returns for Huskies' TDs. The Golden Rams were never able to recover. Now the Rams have an tough homecoming game coming up against Shippensburg, and Bloomsburg will in all likelihood be brought back down to earth when they visit Kutztown on Saturday. The obvious game of the week will be IUP at California, and Shippensburg at West Chester should also be a good one. See you all on Saturday. Husky is not yet sure where he will be on Saturday--hopefully at the WCU--Ship game. '

PSAC football Scores (Week Six)

IUP 22 California 21 IUP now in the driver's seat to win the PSAC West.

Kutztown 24 Bloomsburg 0 No surprise here. Huskies offense is very unimaginative.

Millersville 20 East Stroudsburg 14 Millersville keeps looking better.

Shepherd 72 Lock Haven 7 Should be a mercy rule for such games.

Shippensburg 20 West Chester 13 Shippensburg showed up BIG the second half. WCU had another punt blocked for another TD against them.

Gannon 35 Edinboro 17 Gannon continues to win.

Clarion 40 Seton Hill 13 Clarion gets its second win. Seton Hill still looking for a win.

SRU 31 Mercyhurst 17 The Rock gets back in the win column.

Husky picked six of the eight games correctly to up his record to 39--16. He missed the mark on the IUP--Cal game and also on the ESU--Millersville game. His best pick was Shippensburg beating West Chester at Farrell Stadium. He also came close to getting the California--IUP game correct, but for a very strange turn of events on the last play of the game. Read about it in the game recap, which will follow later tonight. Husky is at this time preoccupied with watching the baseball playoffs. Will be back in several hours.

IUP Edges California with a Late Rally and a Huge Cal Penalty

This win should result in IUP winning the PSAC West. It is hard to believe there is any team from the PSAC West left on the schedule that can beat the Crimson Hawks.
