There seems to be a big difference between left field and right field in Baltimore.

They moved the fences in the off-season.

Andujar robbed of a HR!

Could have been up 3-2.

Still down 2-0.

Going into the bottom of the 7th.

L.D.O. makes Wells look like Mike Mussina.

Another case of losing home run derby.

The difference between an average club and a good one.

Every Olympic track and field star, bobsledder, skier, and figure skater goes in knowing full well that the ever-so-slightest mistake could mean a loss....along with the four-year wait for their next chance.

Neither team scored. Neither.....

...Except for two home runs given up by Contreras. The slightest mistakes....

A raw deal, but that's competition sometimes.

We wait a day for our chance to win.

Wells has been good all season. In fact he gives up fewer baserunners per inning than Mussina ever did.
Wells has pitched 47 innings only giving up 25 hits and 9 walks this year for a whip of 0.72. That is crazy good.
Mussina's best whip in his 18 year career was 1.08. Not knocking Mussina, but just pointing out Wells has been very underrated this year along with the Orioles who have the second best record in baseball.

Good points. If he keeps this up, someday, somebody will use "Wells" instead. I was going to say "Jim Palmer." He's about the only other Orioles pitcher I could think of. I didn't think many would remember him or Mike Cuellar.

We've lost games to good clubs in their parks, and some reasonably close. I can accept that as part of the game. A game like this gets magnified only because of the compounding effect of a bad spell, and it puts us a little farther out of first place.

All in all, it was a good game. We just came out on the wrong side of the ledger. Aside from two pitches, it wasn't like the Orioles were racking it up, either. Just have to shake it off and go back at it.

Palmer, Cuellar, NcNally, Dobson the last 4 man rotation with all 20 game winners. I remember when it happened, back when I was following box scores out of the daily newspaper. As far as Tyler Wells, I would like to think he will come back to earth and we all know he can't be compared to any superstar based on his 47 innings. And back to your valid point I agree with, the Pirates approach at the plate seems to be very much on an individual basis as opposed to what the team needs.
