I would have to think Bauer not being signed by any team was a hush-hush agreement by all of the owners....and probably a hush-hush suggestion by Manfred.

Bauer has a reputation as a troublesome teammate. Talent? Sure. But then Bauer is better than every other team's 4th or 5th starter, so again, why didn't even one team offer him something? Anything?

Because chemistry matter too. And maybe he's too big a sh*t to be worth the risk. Even if he has Cy Young arm. And even if he was good for team harmony, I personally wouldn't want him on my team. Maybe if we were close to contending, and it was a matter of improving at the margins, maybe. But we're not even close to being marginal. So let's at least have higher caliber guys.
