Pirates Acquire Mark Mathias From Texas

I thought we just signed Chris Owings and the Pirates like him. Can we call Mathias JVM3?
If we are wanting to get a major leaguer, the Yankees would probably give us Isaiah Kiner Falefa and pay most of his salary, but we keep getting AAAA middle infielders to block guys like Castro, Bae and Nick Gonzales.

I do like some of these guys in the minors (Endy Rodriguez, Henry Davis, Nick Gonzales, Travis Swaggerty, Mike Burrows and a few others.) I am fine with the older guys to bridge the gap(Cutch, Santana, Hedges). In the meantime, I also think we have guys that need major league at bats or innings this year to see if they are big league players (Castro, Bae, Oviedo, etc) Bringing in 4A players serves no purpose in my mind. Whenever I think I figure the Pirates plan, they throw me a curve ball.

The guys you list first aren't major league.

Davis needs to hit MLB pitching.

I see no reason to acquire some of the guys we have. It's like "spin the wheel and see where it lands."

Do we want MLB players? Doesn't look to me that they do all that much. These look more like stretches/dice rolls. All clubs have them. We have our share.

With our patented brand of pitching, it might not matter.
