I went to Pirates City which is the complex in Bradenton where the Pirates held their practice today. I have to say it was one of the coolest experiences I've been to. I'm not going to pretend like I am a scout so instead I will just say (after today's practice) there are some guys I am pulling for. Austin Hedges, Marcano, Bae, Oviedo, Suwinski to name a few. If I was looking at the right guy, Vilade is a monster. Carmen Mlodzinski seemed so impressive, to me he has the makings of a future closer, but then again I am not a scout. From most people there, especially the youngsters Oneill Cruz is already a rock star.

Nice, stats. Hope to make the trip at some point now that I'm in the Eastern time zone.

Surprise, surprise. Brubaker gave up a home run in the first inning of his spring debut.

Just so everyone knows, J.T. Brubaker is not, I repeat, NOT a MLB pitcher.

Ke'Bryan went yard. Hopefully we see a little more power from him this season.

We better see a LOT. We gave up 9 runs.

Face it. Our pitching just plain stinks.

The games don't count. The stats don't count.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear it every ST. The games don't count.

Then, they do.

The HR counts. The pitching doesn't.

I don't know what the Naked Women's Wrestling League has to do with this, but the stats don't matter.
Some guys are working on new pitches or better control.

Xavier Nady the year he had his big season with the Pirates hit .100 something in spring training. He went up a lot of times Intent on taking every pitch to work on his patience at the plate.

Castillo led the team in HR's last spring. He got traded.

I'm agreeing the Brubaker sucks, but it's Spring Training!

The stats don't mean shit.

Then who cares whether Hayes hit a HR?

What is the reason that we have this thread?

Games matter. Performance matters.

Always.

"Guys working on this." "Guys working on that." I get it. There's always some excuse.

Guess what. Those things also apply to the Phillies, and they beat us.

I agree that the games and results don't count until Opening Day, but the performance does matter.

The Calendar Of Losing

ST- Doesn't mean shit. Back in 1942....

April- It's early. Plenty of time left. Back in 1812.....

May- They're just in a slump. Back in 1776......

June- They'll get hot. Back in 1492.....

July- Let's get that draft pick. Back in 1968.....

August- Play the kids. Back in the dawn of time.....

September- We'll be spoilers. Back when cavemen walked the earth....

October- We'll be "competitive" in two years.

Then why are you on this board if you already know what's going to happen? So everytime something positive happens, it doesn't matter and everytime something negative happens it par for the course? Please. Just go away if that's going to be the case.
