Man, I'm telling' ya. If my house is ever on fire, I sure as heck hope they send anyone other than the Cherington VFD. The guy's got no sense of urgency whatsoever. Get me that Astros guy.

Uh-Oh.

According to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox have expressed interest in acquiring Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds.
The Red Sox are looking for upgrades all over the trade market and have spoken to the Diamondbacks about their surplus of outfielders as well, but Reynolds seems like the perfect fit for what they're looking for. He's under Pirates team control through the 2025 season though, so it's likely to require quite a package of prospects in order to pry him away.

Here we go with another treasure trove of prospects.

I think the market will never get higher for Bryan Reynolds than it will this off-season. The free agent market is stocked with all star pitchers, shortstops, first basemen and one outfielder named Aaron Judge. After Judge, Bryan Reynolds is better than the rest, so I'm sure the offers will be coming in. I can't see any trade with the Red Sox that would be beneficial for the Pirates. That organization is a mess right now.

Which organization are you talking about? Doesn't matter. Both are pretty much messes.

I probably should have clarified what I meant by a mess. Their young guys have not lived up to their hype. Their expensive players are overpaid and not performing up to what they signed them for (guys like Chris Sale, James Paxton, Trevor Story etc). Shortstop Xander Boegarts is now a free agent. The only player on their team that would be an upgrade from Bryan Reynolds is Rafael Devers, who they aren't trading.

I wouldn't call the Pirates roster a mess because there are no bad contracts. I would just say it looks incomplete. :)

I would say that no fan who has seen his team lose 100 games in the National League Central Division two years in a row should call a team that had a much better record in a far more difficult American League East division 'a mess.' Just my direct opinion.

A team like ours has several terrible contracts. It's why we've lost that many games. @@@@@

Phillies - Nola(3.5)................................................................................................................................................................3.5

While other GM's are busy improving their teams for 2023, Cherington continues to twittle his thumbs.
