.....I know that at one point in the season, not too long ago, it seemed to be a point of pride that the Pirates had not used the same lineup for any of the games....it would seem that if a certain lineup was good one night, well then bjezus why not tomorrow....case in point...tonight who is hitting cleanup against a lefty......Ben Gamel, who although I like him...doesn't hit lefty's much...Chavis has actually gotten some good wood against RH pitching lately..also....think twice about who you bring in to a 1-0 game in the 8th....Best wishes...and...why does it seem like Spring Training Tryout Season?
One of my many conspiracy theories says even though the bottom teams want to eventually put a winning team on the field right now, they might not be trying to hard to win each game. With the new lottery draft format, the bottom 3 teams have the best chance of getting the #1 pick. By looking at the standings in reverse order, the Pirates are a game and a half out of the third worst record.
TEAM W-L win avg games out of worst 3 records
Nationals 37-75 330 x
Athletics 41-70 369 x
Tigers 43-68 387 x
Pirates 44-66 400 1.5
Reds 44-65 404 2
Cubs 44-65 404 2
Royals 45-66 405 2

Good point, we're doing a really good job of trying for that worst record. The Nats are going to be hard to catch though.
Going to have to add at least a couple of hitters for this team to have any chance to compete.
We are not really trying for the worst record, we are trying for one of the worst 3 records (because of all of those chances are the same under the new format.)
I agree on us having to had a couple hitters for us to compete. Nutting is going to have to open his wallet. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be next year.
I also was trying to figure out the new service time rule where rookies can get one less year. I probably need some help from someone smarter, My take is if you are on the major league roster for 86 days as a rookie and rank in the top 22% of rookies (by some method), you can get to free agency one year faster. I looked it up because I was curious why Roansy Contreras and Jack Suwinski are stuck in the minors. Roansy has now pitched 4 games in the minors since being sent down. His last start was 5 innings. The start before was 4 innings and 9 strike outs.

"Unfortunately, I don't think it will be next year." Or the year after that,or the year after that, or the year after that, and so on.....
I know. You made that pretty clear.
For now, I am going to enjoy the building. You aren't going to kill my optimism!
Alright already. Can we stop the parade of players. Settle on a roster. Let guys learn how to play at this level. And spend some money on some veterans especially pitchers who can help this staff. Suwinski gets sent down after a slump but needs to learn how to come out of it at the major league level. I think all these guys are suffering confidence wise and can’t form any chemistry. 4 years now

We have enough damn prospects. If I see another new prospect I’m gonna puke. Nutting needs to open the damn pocketbook and stop with the marketing ploys. He’s a damn billionaire. What’s the problem? He’s not going to put in the investment to make a winning team
