A lot to unpack with this game.

Brubaker gets his first win of the year, started out very Brubakerish and was flirting with disaster through the first 3 innings. Settled in once the Bucs gave him a nice cushion.

Madris and Cruz had some great at bats knocking in 1/2 of the Pirates 12 runs.

Perfect type of game for Hembree and Beede to sue mop up work.

Nice to finally be on the winning side of one of these lopsided games.

Brubaker’s ERA drops to 4.11 which is not bad for a 4-5 type starter.

Contreras, like Brubaker yesterday, is keeping the Scrubs off the board. However, it has not been very efficient work, 60 pitches through 3 innings.

Perez now has 8 hits on the year for the Pirates, 3 of the 8 hits have been homers. Feast or famine with this guy and it is mostly famine.
