Son played high school baseball with Heineman's brother, Scott, who was also in the majors. Heineman is a traditional backup C - very good defense, arm, not a lot of hitting.

Heineman is a very good backup C. Really good behind the plate, excellent at keeping the ball from going to the backstop, and hitting a little bit as well.

I know CERA is not actually a thing, got it, but the runs the Pirates have given up since the Cardinals debacle back on May 22: 5, 4, 2, 4, 5, 3, 4, 8 and 0. 35 runs allowed in 9 games, or 3.89 per game and a 6-3 record.

As anxious as I am for good news, I'll take any happy small sample any day.
