By the Pirates signing veterans to one year contracts, I am guessing we are in no hurry to bring up the young guys.

The one year deal fills spots on the MLB roster, but also allows the player to become potential trade bait if he ends up being valuable during the season. I am not a big Gamel fan but he did bring a lot of energy and leadership to the clubhouse.

I love the energy and professionalism of Gamel. I just hope the guys in the minors will get their call-ups to play with him. I also think you are spot on with the trade bait concept. I feel that is why Tsutsugo was re-signed. My hesitance is that we have guys in the minors that need major league at bats. I am guessing they are going to have to wait another year.
