Much needed 1st baseman

Post by ReadingPiratesFan »

I know this is obvious, but we need a First Baseman. Should we go after Anthony Rizzo…he’ll be 33 and too expensive, how about resigning Josh Bell….maybe, try O’Neil Cruz….he’s tall and great defense, we have many options at SS. Any ideas ?

You have Mason Martin in the minors. A healthy Colin Moran is a solid, but not spectacular option.
Bringing back Tsutsugo and Moran is a solid option (and cheaper).

Colin Moran has been exactly a "Replacement Player" in over four seasons. A career WAR of ZERO!

First consideration is what are they doing with Moran? If he is staying, he plays first, and they need to also bring in a backup who bats right handed. I was hoping Evans would be that guy but he flopped.

Moran had some tough breaks last year (one literal break), but there is still the potential for a career year from him, in which case he could be flipped for assets.

If they trade Moran now, they need to bring in someone, and that could be Yoshi.

Amongst Rizzo, Bell, and Cruz, none are good fits.

There seems to be a few other teams interested in Yoshi= Cleveland, Cubs, and Tigers have been mentioned
