Not a bad debut:

2 for 5, RBI, Run Scored, turned a double play.

His one hit had an exit velocity of 118.2 mph! The highest for a Pirate since they started recording it!

And let's all remember amidst that cadre of fan who wanted to see the team lose 120 games and get that all-important, first round draft pick, we got Cruz in a trade for Tony Freaking Watson, an eighth inning set up man! :D

The Pirates might have hit the jackpot on this trade, but at the time of the trade in 2017 a good set-up man was all he was worth in the open market. In 2016, he had no homers in his 187 at bats. In 2017, he had little power with a .237 batting average and struck out 1/3 of the time. Someone in the Pirates organization knew what they were doing in this trade and more credit has to go to Cruz and whoever has been working with this guy.
