Re: MLB Rule Votes Today-What are your thoughts?

I am loving the pitch clock. The game is so much more watchable.

I think even the players are relieved. They can't and don't have to agonize over every pitch. Just play the game.

Re: Choi Has To Hate The Pirates

I'm guessing he'll be fine, attitude wise. He said several times, no hard feeling. Hopefully he will hit. Then there really won't be any.

I'm good with the changes. I don't want to see games dragging on way past 9 innings. And I don't want to see position players pitching. You have 8 guys in the bullpen nowadays.

Re: Out of Options

Anyways I know roster management is an inexact science. You win some you lose some.

Re: Out of Options

I thought Underwood was kind of on the bubble as far as his roster spot, but since they kept him this long, it would kind of tick me off to see him get cut in March when we could have protected Blake Sabol. A whole group of our most talented players will start in AAA. Davis, Rodriguez, Oviedo, Ortiz...

Re: Am I the only one who actually thinks that .....

You always have injuries, but last year the injuries to Roberto Perez and David Bednar were especially damaging. Otherwise I think they would have won a lot more.

Re: Out of Options

Here is what I have, plus Delay or Heineman as the backup catcher. De Jong was really good last year. To cut Underwood or Stephenson after holding on to them all this time doesn't make a lot of sense to me. By the way Kranick will be going on the 60 day IL soon so a roster spot will be coming open. ...

Re: Am I the only one who actually thinks that .....

After winning 60 last year, to expect 82 this year is wildly optimistic. 70 is the mark I am hoping for. Then hope for 80 next year. Which at that point you are in contention for a playoff spot. Of course you never know. I wouldn't be shocked to see 75. Or 65 for that matter. But 82 I would be shock...

Re: Out of Options

Thanks BB, that's good stuff. Now that I see that, the options aren't going to factor in very much, because almost anyone who might be on the bubble has options left. So the 26 man roster is a little harder to predict than I thought it would be. It looks like a nice group of players, but then I alwa...

Out of Options

Does anybody know where you can find info on who has options left vs. who does not? I heard some guys on the radio saying it would be hard to predict the Pirates 26 man roster. I was thinking it would actually be easy, at least to come within 1 or 2 players of it. But you need to know who has options.

I don't like this decision. I also thought Vilade would be the guy.

Re: Austin Hedges

Maybe some jurors are still deliberating, but I'm not. This juror thinks that Cherington will prove to be better at some aspects of his responsibilities, worse at others, and about the same at the rest when compared to his predecessor. In other words, just a different shade of the same shit. Busine...

24 always was the target. If you get to July of 24 and are not in contention, then you kick the can down the road to 25.

Re: Austin Hedges

Priced are up. Seems like a lot of teams have a lot of cash. Hedges hits about as well as Michael Perez, which is to say very poorly. But at least he can play defense and at least it is just a one year deal. I wish we had gotten better players but overall I'm ok with what Cherington has done. He fil...
