You were right on the 16 run differential. I don't know whether to praise you for being accurate on such a bold prediction or blame you for the loss. Either way I am impressed.

Re: Game Day Comments - July

Am I the only one who is getting tired of the Pirate announcers hyping Cruz for how hard he hit an infield single. The guy is batting .193. I know what you are saying, but I am giving them a pass. I think there job is to build up the Pirates and there is only so much they can do with this team, so ...

Just cut VanMeter already. There's no reason Marcano was sent down when VanMeter is sucking.
I was thinking the same thing Dan. Van Meter has to be cut when Newman comes up, doesn't he?

Opinions on Position Players Pitching

A new trend in baseball is when a game is out of reach to bring in position player to pitch. In the NL Central anyway, each team has now done this multiple times. I would love to hear people's opinions on this, even if you don't have a strong one.

And that wasn't the guy who gave up 7 runs in 1.2 innings.

Sheesh. I hate the Brewers.
So we had two pitchers have worse outing than our position player pitching.

Re: Game Day Comments - July

The only team in the history of baseball to get 3 homer games from 3 different players in the same month is the 2022 Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jack Suwinski, Bryan Reynolds, Michael Perez

Re: Game Day Comments - June

Monday right after the game, I badmouthed our skipper for letting Perez bat with 2 outs when we needed a 2 run homer. Even though we lost that game, Perez today proved why Shelton let him bat. 2 Lessons learned. 1) Shelton is way smarter than me. 2) I should never post right after a Pirate loss.

All Stars

Hopefully we will have some all star game discussion, so I created a thread. First I wanted to point out the injuries in baseball. I left a lot of good players off the list, but here is my list of guys that won't be playing today because they are listed as injured. C) Salvador Perez, KC 1B) Ty Franc...

Re: Game Day Comments - June

What a fun game in many ways. Reynolds 3 homers. Many crazy calls and plays. Not a ton of walks. De Los Santos closing it out looked sharp. Even the Nats moved their runners with a lot of gap shots. Josh Bell looked like Matty Alou slapping the ball around like he was (except he is about a foot tall...

Re: Game Day Comments - June

We would have to be insane to even entertain a trade for this guy. Their asking price is something pretty much unattainable. If the Pirates sign Reynolds to a multi-year contract, that would squash all of the trade talk. The longer the Pirates wait while Reynolds hit this way, the better chance Rey...

Re: Game Day Comments - June

Pirates now have hit 79 team home runs on the year, tied for 15th with the Orioles and Mariners. I can’t remember where they finished last year in homers, but I am sure it was dead last or damn near dead last. Crap, now I have to look it up. The Pirates were dead last last year in homers by 20 home...

Re: Game Day Comments - June

3/4 of the team are minor league ballplayers, so we should expect games like tonight to happen. Minor leaguers just can't compete against major leaguers on a nightly basis. You're probably being generous on your estimation. Here is the way I categorize the 28 players on the Pirates roster. MAJOR LE...

Re: Game Day Comments - June

And of course the bullpen is going to give up runs late in the game. Shelton’s use of the bullpen is horrendous. Crowe at 31 pitches should have been taken out. Crowe also got squeezed big time on the Caesar Hernandez AB. I thought Quintana could have went another inning. This would take some of th...
