Re: Who's Next?

I wish we would have locked up Cruz 6 months ago when he wasn't playing. I am afraid his price has gone way up. Therefore, I would wait and see if can get back to what he is was before on the field. Bednar seems like the one that should be next in line. He is a top closer and a great representative ...

Re: Spring Training

After going to spring training practices this week, I will say almost all players were friendly and nice. Two guys that went way out of their way to stay late and engage with the fans were Ke'Bryan Hayes and Termarr Johnson on multiple days. Aroldis Chapman, Paul Skenes, Edward Olivares, Endy Rodrig...

Re: Spring Training

Opening day is always one of my favorite days of baseball. I don't think the formal "naming" of the opening day starter was always a thing. For about 25 of these teams, we already have a good idea of who it will be. For the other five or so toss-ups, I personally wouldn't want to make a bi...

Re: Keller Extended

I think it is a good deal for Keller as well, especially the way pitchers get injured. I think he already agreed to $5m for this year. Arbitration would get him maybe $12m next year. $20m for each of the next 3 years would give a total of $77m. Where is is good for the Pirates is the next time he ne...

Re: Bucs sign lefty reliever Fleming

He averaged 4 innings per game last year and has done that for a career. I'm not sure he will make the majors or how he will be used.

Re: Possible Roster HR Predictions

I like your optimism on most of those, but will take the over on Ke'Bryan Hayes.

Re: Smith-Njigba DFA'd Chapman Officially Signed

I was pretty down on Smith-Njigba when I saw him in May-June. He seemed like he thought he was a little better than he really was. My guess is he got caught up in all of the hype of his brother. I saw him again in September and he looked like a new man. He seemed focused and had a new approach at th...

Re: Non-Roster Invitees

You just made my day. I am planning on being to as many practices as possible in spring training this year. I am looking forward to seeing 6 guys I have not seen in person yet. Termarr, Skenes, Solometo, Bubba, Harrington and Jones.

Re: VanMeter signs with Yankees.

I believe these are Huntington's top first round picks by year and where they were picked in the first round. Huntington First Round Picks(with # picked overall) 2008 Pedro Alvarez(2) 2009 Tony Sanchez(4) 2010 Jameson Taillon(2) 2011 Gerrit Cole(1) 2012 Mark Appel(8) 2013 Austin Meadows(9) 2014 Cole...

Mariners signed Cole Tucker to a minor league contract. Do we remember that prospect?

Re: Class of 2024 HOF

My main point wasn't to knock the players that got in, but to maybe put guys like Dave Parker and Don Mattingly in because the standards have changed. Those guys were big stars in the game. Their cumulative numbers fell short with standards back then, but with today's standards, they far exceed and ...

Re: Class of 2024 HOF

I think Andruw Jones is a Hall of Famer. If he's the best defensive center fielder ever, that alone ought to be enough. But he wasn't some Punch and Judy hitter. Ten years averaging 35 homers and 103 RBIs. All while winning 10 gold gloves. He looks like Hall of Fame material to me. I agree. Put all...

Re: Class of 2024 HOF

Here is my Dave Parker HOF pitch in comparison to this class of HOF (Beltre, Mauer, Helton) Parker and Mauer have an MVP. Helton and Beltre don't. Parker has the most top 2 finishes. Parker has as many top 3 finishes as the other 3 combined. Parker has 5 top 5 finishes. None of the others have more ...

Re: VanMeter signs with Yankees.

I thought Castillo would have been a good righty platoon at 1st. I might be wrong, but I think the Pirates are at a point they don't want to lose anyone else from their 40 man roster, unless it is a splash signing. I can see the Pirates making a move similar to what you said, but not until they can...
