Re: Game #73 Reds @ Pirates

I might be the only person since the 70s to check the standing on an almost daily basis, but the Pirates are a half game out of the wild card. There are also 9 teams all within 3 games of each other fighting for the last 2 spots.

Re: Game #71 6/16/24 Pirates @ Rockies

Once again, they have two guys on nobody out, and they managed to go down without a run. Swinging at balls in the dirt and getting picked off of base. It’s almost like watching little league kids play. We do that a lot. I wonder what the ML average # of runs scored is with 2 on and no outs. I once ...

Re: Opportunity to sweep isn’t happening

OK, here is my positive spin. Throw out the 3-13 record for the last game of our last 16 series. That means we are 29-23 in the rest of the games which is percentage points better than the Braves.

Re: Opportunity to sweep isn’t happening

Not shocking at all. 3-13 for the final game of their last 16 series. I was in St. Louis for the last 3 games. The lack of urgency by the line-up, not to mention the lack of enthusiasm by a few of our better players was a bummer. The left side of the infield was has bad and slow as I have ever seen ...

Re: Game #68 6/13/14 Pirates @ Cardinals

With a guy on first and no outs, and hit’s at a premium. I have no idea why they don’t want to bunt the base runner to second and at least have two tries to tie up the game. The chances of them getting 2 base hits in a row to bring The runner in to score from first is pretty much 0%, especially wit...

Re: Game #66 6/11/24 Pirates @ Cardinals

When Skenes left the game last night, he received a standing ovation from the Cardinals fans. That's how BIG he is. Amazing. I was there. I couldn't get anywhere near the Pirates bullpen an hour before the game because it was flooded with Cardinal fans all with their phones ready. Skenes is a rock ...

Re: Game #65 6/9/24 Twins @ Pirates

Heller is clearly not ready for this level. Couldn’t be anymore deer in the headlights! I didn't realze he is 32 years old and has already pitched 5 seasons in the majors dating back to 2016. He has never pitched 20 innings in a season. Maybe Martin Perz and Quinn Priester or even Josh Fleming can ...

Re: Game #65 6/9/24 Twins @ Pirates

I'm going to make my old man comment here. Baseball has gone from 9 or 10 pitchers on a roster to 13. It's not like the Pirates pitchers got knocked around the last 2 days, THEY ARE COMING OFF 2 SHUT-OUTS. If a team is out of pitchers, it is not only a depth issue, but a bullpen usage problem. We ne...

bucco boy wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 9:37 pm Think about it a second. The Pirates gave up Roansy so they could pitch guys like Heller and Nicolas. Tell me how that makes sense. Contreras is 24 years old.
I couldn't agree more. Contreras has pitched 8 innings and given up only 4 hits and 3 walks with the Angels.

Re: Game #64 6/8/24 Twins @ Pirates

What happened to Mlodzinski? Nothing that I know of. He isn't stretched out to go more than one or two innings. But they pulled him mid-inning, no? Is that normal when you start a reliever? I think there analytics team figured Ortiz would be better against whoever was up as opposed to Mlodzinski. I...

Re: Trades To Make The Team Better

If the Pirates get above .500, I am fine with trading prospects for a guy like Robert. Not while we are 4 under .400 and close to having the third worst record in the NL. A healthy Robert is pretty awesome, but he will soon be getting over 20m a year and he has only averaged being active for about ...
