Re: NL Wild Card chase

On average, the more teams that make the play-offs, the better chance the teams fighting for that last spot aren't that good. For the NL's last spot the Phillies are 3-7 in their last 10 games being chased by the Brewers(5-5). The AL is even worse, The 3 wild card teams are the Blue Jays(4-6), Rays(...

Re: Game Day Comments - September

This is now Bryse Wilson's 5th year in the majors. This would have been his first complete game, not to mention his first shut out. 8 innings 3 hits 1 walk and only 90 pitches. Going the 9th would have meant the world to him. If you are worried about his arm, skip his final start. What could help th...

Re: Miguel Andujar DFA'd

I liked the interviews I have heard with Andujar before and after the game. I think he said he was friends (or made friends) with Oneil Cruz and Roansy Contreras. It was nice seeing him go 1 for 3 with a walk, but the fact that he also hit a sac fly was fundamentally sound.

Re: Game Day Comments - September

Who would have thought a 4 hit night from Cruz would be bloops and infield singles? Andujar 1 for 3 with an RBI. Suwinski with 2 doubles. https://twitter.com/Pirates/status/1574587936766574598?s=20&t=kuiejOttl5dVE538IovLzQ I think they said that was 39 mph off the bat. I like seeing him smile o...

Greg Allen not surprising. Losing Michael Chavis stings a little. I didn't expect that.

Re: Pirates Bullpen

I hear you. I am also cautiously excited about our starters, but have little confidence in our bullpen. I think our way of getting our bullpen better is to get more starters. Let our overflow of starters become our bullpen. Here is what I see for our pitching sometime in 2023, in no particular order...

Here's a guy I'd take a flyer on.
Put him at 1st and let's see what he capable of.
Did Dan make this decison for the Pirates 4 days ago?

Re: Bae Is Getting Called Up

Bae was fun to watch today. 1 for 3 with a walk, but stole 2 bases. He had a routine ground out to the infield and was only out by a half a step. It was nice to see the Pirates have a legit stolen base threat in the line-up.

I don't think Shelton is an idiot, but I think he is almost trying to lose. Why else would he be throwing Crowe?

Re: How do the Pirates win a World Series?

2. Pick a time frame and set goals. I would think 2023 Compete. A .500 record with an attitude to win, spend a little more. 2024 Make the play-offs. Some of the young upper tier prospects should be up. Spend even more. 2025 This year should be the best chance. Our team salary should be around league...

Re: Game Day Comments - September

Keller finishes the night 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, 7 K's. I am cautiously getting excited about Keller once again. What I really liked was his previous start or 2, Derek Shelton walked out to the mound looking like he was going to take him out with 2 outs and a baserunner or two. ...

Re: Countdown to 100 losses

5 I decided to beat Shedman to it. Here are the standings for top 3 draft picks( all equal chance in the lottery)....or the worse records in baseball. 1 Nationals 52-97 .349 2t Pirates 55-95 .367 2t Athletics 55-95 .367 _____________________ 4 Tigers 57-92 .383 +2.5 games out 5 Reds 59-91 .393 +4 6t...

Re: Priority On Winning

In my opinion, the Pirates are calculated and strategic in what they are doing with each individual player. I also think they are the same way in how they are playing their prospects. The priority on winning I believe has to start next year. Part of what makes players great in any sport is their com...

Re: Bae Is Getting Called Up

Ji-hwan Bae was more of the exciting players to watch when I was at Indy this year. He is very fast which helps him cover a lot of ground, get infield hits, and stretch singles to doubles. Plus he plays with some flare that fans will like (if he is performing well). He hit .289 in triple A so I hope...

Can't we just play the Reds every game for the rest of the year?
