Re: How long can the Pirates sustain their competitive start?

We all knew that this team has glaring holes. Take away the best player and it's amazing that they have the record that they do.

One benefit from minor league "revamping"

The Iowa Cubs are no longer in the Pacific Coast League and the Indianapolis Indians are no longer in the International League. The I-Cubs and I-Indians are now in the same division and I'll have a wonderful chance to see the Bucs' AAA team with some regularity when they visit Des Moines.

Re: Early Season Observations

When Hayes returns, move Reynolds to CF and make Evans your fulltime left fielder. No reason to have Fowler or Alford in the lineup every day. Also, play Gonzalez more regulary at SS . Maybe 2 out of every 3 games. His bat is good for the position and although Newman has flashed some good leather, ...

Has a pitcher ever thrown back-to-back no hitters? I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Re: 4/13/21: San Diego Padres (8-3) at Pittsburgh Pirates (3-7)

First game that I've really spent any time watching. Got my second COVID shot and decided it would be good to lay down, relax and take in a Bucco baseball game. A few comments: - Couldn't agree more with Bucco Boy about Chad Kuhl. If Kuhl can't throw strikes, there should be no place for him in the ...

Re: Series wins

bb . . . I don't disagree in the least except that the "formula" you cite is for a potentially contending team. I don't think that this team possesses the depth of talent necessary to compete on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, I think that we will see more than our fair share of 4, 5 an...

There was a part of me that felt like Williams was going to follow Musgrove's "no-no" with one of his own.

Re: Welcome to the UPPMB

Watched the replay of the game last night. I think that we are going to live Hayes. Setting aside his HR, the piece of hitting to right field on what should have been a ho-hum SAC fly was first-rate. Total brain fart by the base runner. Frankly, inexcusable. Glad it didn’t come back to haunt. Always...
