Re: Spring Training 2023

Sure. Happens to soccer fans all the time. But injuries happen. All the time. Can be in spring training. Can be in blowouts. As for the timing? Fully agree, Dan. With the exception of this year, the WC is played in the summer, which is global soccer's off-season. No way the WBC should be playing now.

Re: Spring Training 2023

Regardless, this is why I've grown to support the WBC. Games mean so much more than ST games by far. I'm completely with you. I'm firmly in the spring training camps don't matter, since it's just intra-squad scrimmage. As a soccer fan, I'll tell you that the greatest sporting event, by far, is the ...

Re: Trevor Bauer Signd With NPB’s Yokohama DeNA BayStars

Bauer > anyone we have. I dont care what he does off the mound now that he has served his time. Nice guys lose 100 games two years in a row. That's what the guys we have do. Talent? Sure. But then Bauer is better than every other team's 4th or 5th starter, so again, why didn't even one team offer h...

Re: MLB Rule Votes Today-What are your thoughts?

I follow games mostly on satellite radio and internet. I agree. Not as much dilly dallying around. I'm not much into radio solliloques. I know others are. They're just not for me. Because I watch only so often- and, not at all this ST- 'll ask others who have: do you think that the shift eliminatio...

Re: Spring Training 2023

Saw this on TV this morning. The umpires in yesterday's game left after the top of the 9th because the game was officially over. The teams wanted more reps. So they played the bottom of the ninth and called their own balls and strikes and made their own calls. Very interesting. Like the games and s...

b) The 9th inning and your team is up by 10 or more.
c) The 9th inning and your team is down by 8 or more.

Is it just me, or is it weird that these numbers are different? Why not just make them the same?

Oh, and a runner on second base just sucks.

Ok, here's a thornier question then...

Do McGriff and Rolen deserve to be in the Hall?

Re: Welcome home Cutch!

I love this move. Clutch's best years we're with the Pirates and our best years we're with him. At the time he left I said I'd rather suck with Cutch than suck without him, and we've sucked aplenty since he left. It all comes down to what kind of clubhouse leader he's going to be, and I don't think ...

Re: Giants Nix Correa Deal, Thank Signs With The Mets

So, are the Mets the favorites now to land Ohtani next year?

$500 million in payroll and luxury tax for next year, which is 40% higher than any other team ever. And while the Correa deal is stunning, they "only" got a third baseman.

Re: Off Season 2022-2023 thread

I am with you Statsbci. I almost gave him a 4 as well. When thinking about the top players in baseball, he doesn't come to mind. Players like Harper, Judge, Goldscmidt and Stanton do. I feel the Giants overpaid him 40 WAR in 8 seasons doesn't move the needle for you? He's in his prime, and his bat ...

I dunno. According to your list, the Pirates have been the fourth most successful team in baseball this off-season.

Going past the Bucs?

Dude. The Phillies were already way ahead of us, even before Turner and Verlander.
