Jason Mackey is reporting that Alford's been called back up and will be in Cincinnati this afternoon.
Here's hoping he does well. He does have a 34.5% strikeout rate at AAA, which is less than ideal. On the other hand, he can't be that much worse than Phillip Evans.

Re: Anthony Alford
I agree with this. The only thing I will say is Alford seems like a 4A player. With that said, all these guys need to play to find out if they are legit major leaguers. Yep, that's my sense of Alford, too. I doubt he'll be more than a 4A guy. But he's certainly earned a promotion. If nothing else, ...

Anthony Alford
At Indianapolis, Anthony Alford has put up a ridiculous slash line: .301/.424/.555. And he's hit eleven doubles and eleven home runs. Altogether, that's good for a wRC+ of 159. At this point, there's no reason not to DFA Polanco and give Alford another shot. The Pirates aren't going to pay Polanco $...

Re: Other Prospects
OF, Matthew Fraizer (23) Slashing .317/.403/.583 for an OPS of .986 with 20 HR and 14 SB (Get this kid to Altoona!!) Very excited about Fraizer. Third round pick in the 2019 draft, #95 overall, out of the University of Arizona. Evidently, he made a pretty big swing adjustment and has been crushing ...

Re: Deadline Trades Around the League
Kimbrel to the White Sox for Nick Madrigal and Codi Heuer. I have a feeling we're not going to like Madrigal being in the same division as the Pirates.
But that means the activity around a Rich Rod trade should be picking up right now.

Re: Where Did The Padres Get All The Money?!
Based on what I've read, Scherzer's contract is so loaded with deferrals and bonuses that the Padres will only be taking a $12 million or so hit against the luxury limit. Still, it looks like they're also trying to get Hosmer's contract off the books. No doubt they'll be looking to swallow a big chu...

Re: What an embarrassment
Notice Baez on the video is celebrating with a safe call at home. He actually didn't realize until a second later that he had to get to first or the run wouldn't have counted. Frazier was the other screw up here. If he is at first base, there is no run and two-run inning in a 5-3 loss. No reason fo...
