Tonight marks the first time all season that the Pirates have started a lefty pitcher.

They've only used 7 guys all year. Fewest in 20 years. I think the Freak Show team only used 6 or 7.

I'll have to agree with you PP. That was a bone-head move on Marte's part. And, what's with making the outs at 3B all of a sudden?

Bell too? Although Bell's out at 3B wasn't as bad as Marte getting thrown out at 3B.

He has got to be the dumbest base runner in the league. Seriously, don't they keep stats on those kinds of things? They keep track of fielding errors. They should compute LAR- losses above replacement, to counter someone's WAR. That was inexcusable. I mean the whole play was in front of him.

I guess with Marte you have to take the whole package. I couldn't believe that boneheaded play, but I also couldn't believe he threw out Zobrist on that play the other night. No other left fielder (except maybe Cespedes) is going to make that close.

A four game win streak! Against the Reds and Cubs! Very nice and very unexpected. It's safe to look at the standings again.

Baseball Axiom - "Never make the first or third out of an inning at 3rd base".

2017 Pittsburgh Pirates - "Hold my beer...."

Said axiom needing to be modified for the 2017 Pittsburgh Pirates:

"Never make the first AND third outs of an inning at third base."

Marte: to paraphrase Bull Durham: "Million dollar talent; five cent head"
