WEIRD GAME...but the good guys came out right in the end..Disappointing 4-7 homestand, but not devistating! Saw lots of good stuff today, and a few negatives...Lots of offense from lots of sources, which is what we had when we were going good. Let's hope we can keep it going. But what is up with the defense??

STARTER: AJ gave us a solid effort. 6 2/3 innings..a few more runs than most of us would have liked but had a big lead in the end. For the most part did WHAT he had to do WHEN he had to do it. Except for the 3 run HR and the strange last inning, he was good. Calling this an OK START. By the way...did anybody see AJ tell Ramirez to sit his ass down after he struck him out?

WIN: AJ did just enough to get the win...the first Pirate 15 game winner since 1999!....with six weeks to go. He improves to 15-4 with 3.54 ERA. I still like him for the Cy Young....depends if he leads us into the playoffs!

HOLD: Watson is credited with his 13th hold of the season.

Honorable Mention: Cutch gets an HM, getting on base 4 times with a single and three walks, scored 2 runs. Barajas also gets an HM going 1-3 plus a walk and scoring from first base on a triple in which he looked like he was carrying a piano from third to home, but he made it! Watson gets an HM, coming in with 2 outs in 7th with bases loaded in what had become just a two-run lead and got out of it.

STAR #3: Despite the two errors, Pedro earned a star today. Came through with a double and HR, going 3-5 with and RBI and 2 runs. This is the bat we need to get going again the most. Hopefully today was the start of one of those tears again.

STAR #2: Clint Barmes goes 2-4 with a triple and 3 RBI. HIs triple was clutch, allowing the Bucs to tie it up after AJ Surrendered the three run HR to Ramirez. His average has steadily risen since dropping below .200. He now sits at .221, combined with mostly steller defense.

STAR #1: No doubt about this one. Garrett Jones, the man who many claim only hits HRs when we have a huge lead or huge deficit comes through huge today! He goes 2-3, plus a walk and hits TWO Three-Run HRs.
