Could Brock Holt get his feet wet? Greg Brown was talking about Anderson Hernandez, but I hope not. Known quantity- don't want that quantity.

I'd sooner bring up Navarro.

I was thinking Navarro too. At this point, we would need someone who has the best chance of being successful.

So, dislocated finger...can't you just pop that sucker back in place?

You can, and the Pirates staff probably will, but that could cause collateral damage to the ligaments at the knuckle.

Our defense has been beyond embarrassing.

Stick a fork in this f'n team. Crap starting pitching, relief pitching, defense, and hitting. They keep this up and we may be praying just to finish over .500.

Just returned home from the library. I see Wandy Rodriguez has turned in another fine performance tonight. If my math is correct, that's 30 hits and 15 earned runs in 30-2/3 IP over four starts. Impressive. With a little more effort, he still has a chance to equal Matt Morris' record of 41 hits and 24 earned runs in his first five Pirate starts.

Correct. This is bad and getting worse. Even in April and May when they were struggling they were pitching great and playing solid defense. Now...not so much.

His problem is he doesn't strike people out like he used to. He got blooped and flared to death tonight. Of the 10 hits, I think I counted 3 that were well struck. Having said that, he certainly is looking more like a back end of the rotation guy not a number 3.

With the way we're playing, and looking at the schedule coming up, it's possible we could be hovering right around .500 by Labor Day.... :( :( :(

Animal is going to need to rename his Goats and Stars threads to Pirates Post Mortem if this keeps up.

The worst part of the situation is we won't do a damn thing in the offseason other than add a bullpen arm, maybe.

The OF will be Cutch, Marte, Snider, with Tabata & Presley as fallbacks.

The IF will be Jones/ Sanchez, 2B Walker, SS will be Barmes (don't see us eating 5 million), and 3B will be a sketchy Pedro.

Catch will be the Fort and who knows.

Rotation will be Burnett, Wandy, JMac, Karstens, and Wilson/ Locke/ Cole competing for a spot.

That's it. Same team. Will be a 'the players we have just have to play better' approach once again with no real improvements for position players lurking in AAA.

He had a good month. Didn't we run LaRoche out of town for having good months other than one?

I have the same feeling.

I am going to keep watching, and hope for the best.

If the bottom falls out, I will be extremely disappointed, but I will remember the satisfying 3/4 of a season the Bucs gave us, and hope for better next year.

It's just a game, entertainment, and with all the other crap going on in the world, I am just happy to have a few hours a night to take my mind off all of that.

Go Bucs!

My primary sporting affiliation is with the English soccer club Arsenal, and that is the story of my life as an Arsenal fan. We've gotten some decent players this offseason, but three years in a row now we've let our best player go, so at best we're offsetting the departures, which keeps us from building the team. We are a mediocre-ly good team, but absolutely resolute in not doing what it takes to help get to the next level.

Just think how fun it will be when he exercises that player option in 2014. With a Zach Duke-esque K rate, should be fun to watch.
