I'm ready to turn this shit off. I seriously can't believe how bad the Pirates are right now.

Perhaps I should have worded the above differently. Burnett clearly isn't sharp tonight. Bucs now are down 3-zip, and none of them has a hit yet. This is officially becoming a cause for concern.

Hmmm, no hits through 4 now. Fellows, let's go here.

These are some horrible at bats. Horrible. Against Jason Marquis and his blistering 88 mph fastball.

On the other hand.... Burnett, through 5 innings has 10 strikeouts, striking out everyone in the lineup except Carlos Quentin. That's worth waiting another inning or two to find out if he does that.

I say stuff flippantly quite a bit, but I seriously can't take much more of this game.

Too many of "these kinds of nights" lately.

No hits, five runs allowed and we're still in the top of the 6th. I would say it is already ugly.

And we're robbed of the chance to see if AJ can get Quentin....

About the only remaining suspense tonight is whether the Pirates will get no-hit.

This stretch of games has me as disappointed as I have been at any time this season, even back in April and May. They do not have the look of a contending team at the moment.

Burnett probably was due for a bad game. But if he can't stop the bleeding, who can?

What this team needs is a good old-fashioned Leylandesque postgame ass-reaming, complete with knocking over the food table. I know that's generally not Hurdle's style, but dear God is it warranted here.

Yeah, maybe the embarrassment of getting no-hit in the middle of a pennant race would have been some motivation. But losing with MacDonald and Burnett back to back means some wheels have come off the bus...
