A split is better than losing 3 of 4, I guess. Good News. Reds lost again...so we are still 2.5 out. Cards won, so they moved to within 2.5 of us. If season ended today, we'd be the second Wild Card. It's August 10th. Can anybody out there say if they were told April 1 that we would be in place for the Wild Card, just 2.5 games out on August 10th, taht they would not be happy with that? Still a lot of baseball to go. You cannot win every game, as evidenced by the Reds going on 5 game losing streak after long win streak. Gotta take 2 out of three from the Pads!

STARTER: WRod just has not gotten it done since the trade. He has not been horrible, but not doing enough to win. The HR did him in again today. 6 innings. 7 hits. 2 walks, just 2 K's. 4 Earned runs. Calling this one a wash. No points.

LOSER: WRod takes the loss to drop to 7-11. 3.91. How ironic that NH brings us in a quality pitcher, they send our guy to the pen despite winning 6 in a row, and the new guy stinks up the joint.

GOAT: Several candidate...but I am giving Harrison the goat. Couple of bad at bats. Stranded runners at 1st and 2nd in the second inning after the Bucs put 3 on the board to take the lead. In the seventh, he swung as some real bad pitches, including a couple ball fours, with Bucs down by 3 and Marte on 3rd, with Cutch on deck. A walk would have brought tying run to plate. In all, he went 0-4, with a K and 3 left on base.

Honorable Mention: Jordy Mercer goes 0-3, but has a clutch Sac Fly in 2nd with the pitcher on deck. He also made a couple steller plays in the field, including an amazing over the shoulder catch with his back to the infield when Marte lost a ball.

Star #3: McKenry stranded a couple in the game, but managed to extend his hitting streak to 9 games with a run scoring single. He went 1-4, scored a run and drove in a run.

Star #2: Starling Marte does it again! The kid has been much more impressive than I had hoped for. He went 2-4 with a triple and and RBI.

Star #1: Gaby Sanchez goes 3-4 with a run.
