Ugh...understatement of the season. He's been great all year, so one game will not a lynching bring...however, get your head back in the game Grilli...September is coming!!

Anyone else notice Cutch and his 3 inch vertical?!?! In a bad situation like this I actually had to chuckle.

Horrible time to have a meltdown, after all that good work to get back in the game. Geez.

Around the 6th, when Pedro fell behind 1-2, I felt a great disturbance in the force.

Alas, my judgment was clouded and I could not foresee that 8th inning...

I need to get my midichlorians re-counted. :D

Our bullpen has a really bad case of gopheritis tonight.

Oh, well. At least Cincinnati lost again, so the Bucs keep pace.

I don't know, Grilli hasn't been nearly as sharp since the All Star break. He hasn't had the "giddy up" on his fastball in a lot of those games. At 92-93 he is much more hittable.

Since the break: 7 IP
11 H(he has only given up 28 hits all year and 11 in the last 7 innings) He has also given up quite a few hard hit balls, which he rarely had done pre All Star Break.
5 ER

Now, the good news is that 4 of those runs came tonight all in one game. And he has still struck out 9 in those innings.

I'm not in panic mode or anything, but I think he has been less dominant. I guess I'm worried, at his age, that he is wearing down just a tad bit.

Yeah, I think that's totally valid. I wasn't shocked at what happened to Grilli in that 8th, maybe at just how hard he fell on his face, but he was definitely due for a bad outing. As lights out as he was, like you say, since the break not so much. I don't want to panic either but it's clearly a concern when he fills such an important role in that pen.

It's issues like this that made some people leery of dealing Lincoln. He was great insurance for a problem such as Grilli sputtering.
