Tonight's game is the MLB.TV Free Game of the Day, for those out-of-market folks, like myself.

Bud Norris is a good pitcher. This might be the toughest matchup of the series. A sweep is hardly guaranteed.

Agreed. He always (or seems to) give the Pirates fits. I do like Jeff Karstens stuff so far in this game. It might be a low scoring game hopefully with the Bucs coming out on top for a win.

Would've liked to have gotten more than a run out of that.

Of course I tune in and the first thing I see is a phantom balk... But Drew Freakin' Sutton with another hard hit ball!

Edit: Dammit, Sutton.

Karstens better keep pitching lights out, because the offense can't seem to get things to break free tonight. Lots of opportunities that are just coming up short!

Well, the Astros offense is doing us some favors. Seems to be a lot of first-pitch swings from the Tumbleweeds.

Interesting Hammer pitching the ninth. Hurdle is breaking his rule (three straight nights for a reliever)

Man, this is as uncomfortable as I've seen Hanrahan in a Pirates uniform. His follow through is all messed up. Good thing he can work the kinks out vs the Astros and get a break with the All-Star game.

That being said...

RAISE IT!!

Stupid to pull Karstens after 88 pitches.

Agreed. Just heard Jim Kaat saying last night that pitch counts are the dumbest thing to happen in baseball. Unless he said he was done, he should've had a chance to finish.

And I'd give Hanrahan these next. 3 days off to couple them with the All Star break...he is definitely not right.

Great series for the Bucs, but you have to be concerned about Hanrahan. He doesn't look right. The good news is Grilli can step in if he has to, but that weakens your eighth. Hopefully, Joel can start throwing strikes.

Been thinking the same thing ... like throwing through a brick wall.

Exactly what I've been think when he's on the mound. Is it because he's losing some speed and is trying to make up for it? I don't know why he would be losing some speed though (if that's the case) unless he's just tired (if that's the case).

Hanrahan's velocity has dipped. I'm hoping there isn't anything more to it than what has been said about him possibly overthrowing. Hopefully he doesn't pitch during the All-Star game.
