Tonight's lineup vs. Houston: Presley 7 Sutton 9 McCutchen 8 Jones 3 Walker 4 McGehee 5 Barajas 2 Barmes 6 McDonald 1

Great to see Cutch back. McGehee gets the start at the hot corner, with Alvarez allegedly available off the bench.

The Fort is one of my favorite players on this team but this is not welcome news to my ears.

The next time he shows up out of shape and doesn't have his head in the game.

Ho hum. Just another blow out by the Pirates. Nothing to see here, folks. ;)

Fun fact: Last year the Pirates didn't win #43 until July 3 in the last of a four-game series at Washington. But at 41 losses they were barely above .500. Still, many of us were thinking this is almost too good to be true.

At the All-Star break they were 47-43. This year, if absolutely everything were to go right, they could go into the break an almost unimaginable 13 games over .500 at 49-36. Now that would be rarefied air. The entire baseball world would be talking about them.

OK, it's not likely, I know. But, hey, a guy can dream, right?

bob 13 games will probably not happen, but I am thinking we will be 9 games over by the time the mid simmer classic happens...not too bad at all, considering we have not been 8 games over .500 since bonds was our left fielder
