So pumped for today's game. There is a quasi national stage for today's game. Many national writers have been Tweeting about McCutchen and the Pirates today.

They certainly made the most of their first game in the national spotlight last night.

Oh, great to see Barmes get the start with his sub .200 batting average. Must have bought Hurdle dinner last night again. Nice signing Neal!

Alvarez success = McCutchen hitting HRs.

I'd love for some stathead to look up how quickly Alvarez has hit HRs after McCutchen hits one to take the team lead in HRs. It seems like he always answers with a bomb right after McCutchen pulls ahead.

Grand Slam by Pedro...great job! Pirates 4 Cards 0

I guess we have an offense now. That's wonderful. Question is (at least for me) is how long will these bats collectively stay hot? Or, will the bats stay hot consistently long enough to carry us through to the end of the season?

I hope it does because it's sure fun to watch. Reminds me of the 70's Lumber Company Pirates.

We hit well down the stretch then we have a shot. If Barmes & Tabata/ Presley could pick it up, look out.

I say bring Marte up while the offense is going good so he doesn't feel any added pressure to "spark" the offense....and more importantly get that lump Tabata outta there!!

Presley has been hitting better since he was called back up. For the month of June (not including today's game) he is hitting .259 with a .796 OPS. 10 extra base hits and 4 steals (5 if you don't count today), so power and speed have been part of the equation. I think you keep Presley in the lineup while he is hitting better.

Karstens is dealing right now, what a shot in the arm to get him back in the rotation. Heading to the 7th, put 'em away Buccos!

Presley is such a smart player. Infield in so he got a HUGE lead off third and then slid to outside of the plate so catcher would have to reach for a tag. His excellent speed didn't hurt either. :D

Early in the game I thought we would be good to get 5 out of Karstens but he found a nice groove. Did a nice job. 8-) 8-) 8-)
