SWEEP! SWEET! Four in a row! Could be tied for first by the end of tonight! Way to go Bucs! Was it just enough offense to score more than the opponent…or just enough pitching to keep the opponent at less than us???

STARTER: Burnett was great! I thought we were going to see a no-no today. He looked dominating early. Ended up with 7.1 innings. 2 earned runs. Just 5 hits. 6 Ks. GREAT START!

WIN: Burnett goes to 6-2 with 3.61 ERA.

HOLDS: Watson and Cruz each earn a hold.

SAVE: Grilli does his best Hanrahan imitation..issuing some walks, pitching on the edge to keep us on the edge of our seats..but gets a game ending K with tying run at second and winning run at 1st!

STAR #3: Alex Presley doing great out of the leadoff spot. He got us going in the first with a single and stolen base, scored on Cutch’s double. I thought he deserved an infield hit when he reached later on what was charged as an error.

STAR #2: Burnett. This wasn’t just a great start; this was a game-winning effort. He was as responsible as anyone for this one run win.

STAR #1: Cutch brings home first run with a double, and the second and third with a 2 run HR. Responsible for all three runs. Easy 1-2 punch with today’s stars! It was nice to win a game yesterday without needing a contribution from Cutch. It was even nicer today to have him carry us on he shoulders when we DID need him!

Honorable Mention: Watson and Cruz work out of jams…Cruz a little self-made but still. Grilli does the same, working out of his own jam to give us the victory. But in the end, they got the job done that was needed to get us another win.

I know everyone on this board is cautious with their optimism because of the meltdown last season, but I sense something very different. The Chapman game had me convinced there will be no meltdown, that we will be in the neighborhood in September. Maybe I am wrong. But if anyone deserves a playoff run, it's this fan base and everyone single person on this board.

Flying Dutchman of Carnegie, PRAY FOR US!!!!

(Sorry, that was inspired by the Notre Dame football chant in Rudy. I know, cheesy!) :D

Regarding Grilli's effort:

He gave up a flare off the end of the bat to RF. If Tabata is at regular depth instead of "no doubles," it is a routine, easy fly out to RF.

The walk should have been a K on the 2-2 pitch. Grilli knew it, Barajas knew it, the broadcast crew knew it.

The only one who didn't, it seems, was the umpire.

Oh, I know! I am not faulting him at all. I was just pointing out that Hanrahan has put us through a lot of anguish in the 9th too!
