Another nice Bucco win!!! If we can win in interleague play, it would help make this team much more successful. Lots of contributors tonight. Another graduation tonight so I didn’t see the game. If anybody has any suggestions for changes to my stars, let me know.

STARTER: Bedard. Seven innings. 5 hits, 3 walks, 5 K’s. 2 earned runs. Calling this a GOOD START.

WIN: Bedard improves to 4-6 with solid 3.59 ERA.

HOLD: Grilli pitches a perfect inning, with one K, to get a hold.

SAVE: Hanrahan comes back after a shaky appearance yesterday to pitch a perfect 9th, striking out one, to get his 16th save.

STAR #3: Barmes goes 1-3, with a run and an RBI. He is coming along…would be so nice to see him keep this up. It would do a lot to help the Pirate offense. He also seems to be playing better D. Perhaps he was taking his offensive troubles out in the field with him!

STAR #2: Alvarez goes 1-3 with a double and scored a run, from what I am hearing was pretty good to get home when Tabata was caught stealing. Why wasn’t he credited with stealing home? Also played some pretty good defense from what I read. His defense has been really impressive of late, even while he has slumped at the plate. This is the bat we need to keep it going the most! Come on PEDRO!

STAR #1
: Walker went 3-4 with a run and RBI. Walker is quietly getting better and better. His average is up to .279. More power will come. Defense has been really solid.

Honorable Mention: Tabata gets 2 hits, but also gets caught stealing twice. It would be nice to see his bat get going. GJones went 1-3 with double and RBI. He has been pretty instrumental in our offense of late. Barajas keeps it going, with a hit in 3 at bats, scoring a run. Giving Bedard an HM. Solid pitching performance keeps us in the game and has sac bunt that leads to a run.

Bedard gave us 7 innings tonight which was HUGE. As much as we have used our bullpen the past few games they needed a break and they NEEDED Bedard to go 7.

Walker No. 1, agreed.

Perhaps Bedard No. 2?

Barajas No. 3 for the defense, the hit and the slide ... I thought it was a slo-mo replay and then realized it was just Barajas. :D

Animal, you missed two big things not seeing the game.

Rod Barajas looked like Michail Baryshinkov in scoring that run. A decent throw and the catcher is filing his nails waiting for Ice Wagon Rod to make it home, but the throw was off line to the 3rd base side and Rod dove around the tag and got a fingertip on the plate for a safe call.

Alvarez was on 3rd when bonehead Tabata broke to early and got picked off. Now the pitcher was smart, as he headed towards the baseline to start the rundown. He checked off to 3rd twice. He threw the ball to the first baseman who looked Alvarez's way and then tossed the ball to the second baseman who apparently forgot there was a man on 3rd. He never looked that way and Alvarez went home without a throw.

Alvarez's defense was stellar again last night.

Bedard over Barmes, no question. Bedard goes 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and preserves a depleted bullpen. That vs. a single by Barmes? Heck, if you're going to give a star for a player simply having an RBI, why not give it to Jones over Barmes, who hit a double rather than a single. Bedard was better than both though.
