Great Win. Awesome starting pitching. Just enough offense. Bucs are .500!

STARTER: JMac was great. Kept the Reds off the board for 8 innings with just enough! Great Start.

WINNER: JMac gets the win.

SAVE: Hanrahan gets an easy two-pitch save.

STAR #3: Walker gets the #3 star. 2-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI.

STAR#2: JMac gets the #2 star with damn near perfect pitching for 8 innings.

STAR #1: Pedro's on one of those stretches again. 2-4 with a run, 2 RBIs, and dang near 2 HRs.

Honorable Mention: GIJones goes 1-4, but that one hit is a first inning clutch double to give the Bucs an early 2-0 lead. Barajas goes 2-3 with a clutch hit driving in a run.

There was just something about Pedro's first at bat yesterday that struck me. Don't know what it was, but I said to my dad, "Something looks different with Pedro. He's going to hit a home run." Boom. Maybe it was his body language. Confidence, maybe? Hopefully this stays.

I said the same thing. To me, I can see a difference in Pedro on these kinds of at bats. He LOOKS more confident, more locked in, something! Even when he makes outs, he looks better. If he can keep his confidence up like this, it's going to be a fun, fun summer!

If JMac had pitched a 9 inning shut-out would he have earned an extra point? I know it was a hot day (the sun was killing me here
in Ohio) but I don't get Hurdle.. he's got to allow the young man to finish that game. So tired of the 100 pitch crap.

I actually was thinking about that. I left home right after the 8th inning. I would have made JMac the #1 star if he had a shutout.

When I found out JMac did not finished, I was a little pissed....but upon further thought, it was hot..he was over 100 pitches. Why push it? We had a four run lead. Turn it over to our great bullpen for the win!

How about an Honorable Mention for Gorkys (Animal's Lex Luthor) Hernandez for his play in LF after he came in as a defensive replacement?

Yes. That was some catch!

I was going to ask the gang here about that. It's not that I was slighting Gorkys. I actually did not get to see it. (Is it posted anywhere, does anybody know?) I heard it, and it sounded like an unbelievable catch (of course, with Greg Brown announcing, you can never be sure). But it really was not a difference maker, was it? If I recall correctly, there was nobody on when we had a 4-0 lead.

I'm leaving it up to the vote.

Does Gorky's get an HM for his great catch? I already have one YES with nad69dan's vote.

YES OR NO?

MLB.com has the catch in its game highlights here:

I would vote for HM as it was the first batter of the 8th inning and a hit there could have gotten the Reds going on a rally. And it was a pretty great catch anyway.

Yes, this was an amazing catch, running at full speed, and it was still a ball game, not something that occured when the score was 10-0 on Saturday. Honorable Mention for GH!

There actually was already one out, and not the leadoff batter. Just watched the video. Great catch.
