Correia can't find the plate. Nice play by Barmes to save his bacon.

I heard he had a difficult time finding a plate for his bacon for his breakfast at the buffet table he ate at recently. :D

Correia is batting practice. Johnson is getting hit pretty hard too.

That might be the swan song for Correia in the rotation.

Hard to watch. Would anyone replace him with Lincoln when Bedard returns??

Would take these earned runs from your 5th starter?

6 IP, 1 ER
6 IP, 1 ER
6 IP, 2 ER
4.1 IP, 2 ER
7 IP, 5 ER
7 IP, 3 ER

Today 3.2 IP, 6 ER

I'd say that out of the 7 starts (including tonight), 4 of them have been pretty good for being a 5th starter.

Based on what? A bad start?

Based on the fact that he gives up too many hits, too many walks, and cannot make hitters swing and miss. Try making a list of all the pitchers you can find who put up ERAs under 4.00 while striking out 3.2 batters per nine innings, which was Correia's rate before it dropped even lower tonight. It's going to be a godawful short list, I assure you. He makes Zach Duke look like Nolan Ryan. This is the third year in a row that his K rate has dropped. I'd say he's finished as a major league starter. Put Lincoln in the rotation and let Corriea mop up out of the bullpen if you can't find anybody stupid enough to take him in a trade.

Based on the fact that he has no future with the club. Guys like Lincoln need regular turns in the rotation so we know what we have with them. And after Lincoln, we'll have Justin Wilson (hopefully).

What does Correia give us for the future? Not much. His peripherals are terrible. It's a gamble every time he takes the hill.

Guys like Correia would be fine 2 years ago when we had no pitching depth in the minors and had guys like Brian Burres and Yoslan Herrera "pitching" for us. Now he is a backend arm taking up a spot in the rotation that would better be spent finding out what arms might fill out the rotation 2 years from now behind Cole and Taillon.

I only care about him going at least 6 innings and giving up 3 or less runs. Which he has done 4 out of 7 starts. What do I care how many hits and walks he gives up if he doesn't give up the runs. He's a 5th starter for crying out loud.

If the Pirates can improve by taking him out of the rotation (and possibly strengthen the bullpen in doing so) then I don't see the problem.

While the Marlins do have a good lineup, I don't believe that Correia's next 7 starts will include 4 of 3 ER or less.

Haven't heard a word about Karstens lately, but since he is not out on rehab yet I would assume there is still pain in his shoulder.

If Bedard is healthy, I would replace Correia with Lincoln immediately.

Lincoln's fastball is faster, his curveball is sharper, his control is better, he's younger, he hits better, probably fields better, and has a future with the club.
