Every time I see the 7 and 8 spots in the Bucs' lineup I hope to see other players. Oh well.

What's more unfortunate is that they play positions typically occupied by weak hitters, so replacing them with more palatable bats will not be easy.

Jordy Mercer may have something to say about that. And if the Pirates are lucky (i.e., when Hell freezes over), Jose Morales could produce with the stick a little more than Barajas if the latter's struggles continue. We shall see.

I hope he does, but I'm not convinced that he's a future big leaguer.

I remember the good ol' days, when Burnett's ERA was under 8.

How about that? Is there anyone you'd have rather seen hit that HR?

well, I have let it be known that I was not happy with the signing of barajas in the offseason and I have not been happy with him at all this season, but I always did say I like the way he seems to be a team player and a nice guy much like an overbay or diaz and that hit just earned him 20 more games of poopy play

The Pub exploded. It was awesome. (After a lot of cursing from the top of the ninth).

I know its easy to say after the fact, but would anyone have let Burnett come out for the 9th? He had only thrown 93 pitches to that point.

It would have been a risky move, as Nate McLouth had pinch hit for him in the 8th. Somebody might have noticed and told the umps. :D

No. In a tie ball game, we needed a hitter.

NO....you needed to pinch hit for him with a tie game in the 8th inning. And the PH at bat and walk by McLouth subsequently gave the Bucs the lead that should have won the game. Now, if he did not come up to bat that inning, I likely would have sent him out for the 9th.
