Garrett Jones has been hitting well, too. Follows Pedro with a single.

Let's face it; Alvarez is the No. 1 offensive force in the Buc lineup now. Bar none.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes.

It's not close. It's gotten to the point where I'm expecting him to go yard and then he does.

Pedro ... nice. The guy is locked in. He looks like a completely different hitter than the 2011 version.

Clint Barmes is channeling Ronny Cedeno.

From the looks of Gameday, Westbrook wanted nothing to do with Pedro. Every pitch was away until the count was 3-2, and then Westbrook suddenly threw a meatball.

Announcers said it looked like Cutch pulled up running for a ball that dropped in earlier.

Cutch has been amazing.

Barmes has not! I am really starting to miss Ronnie Cedeno. Hell, I am starting to miss Jack Wilson.

I was thinking the same, I'm actually expecting him to do well when he gets the chance now, amazing turn of events when 3 weeks ago you just assumed the K.

Good thing Barmes is only on a 1-year deal! Oh, wait.....

When you look at the location of that pitch and then where it landed over the fence, I wonder whether any other Pirate could have hit it that far. Jones . . . maybe? If I hadn't known it was a HR I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been caught on the warning track.

Just barely made it over. Went into the small gap between the fence and the seats.

Ok, now they are playing a Chukky Okobi rap about the Bucs.

Per MLB Network, Pedro is batting .438 in his last 9 games with 5 HR. That's not just hot, that's scalding.

He's wearing a Mohawk now? Amusing.

Just checked and Pedro is the first number 2 overall draft pick to hit .438 in 9 games for an East coast baseball team.

Tabata could have scored there...took off for third, wild pitch gets by and he turned and pulled up. I think he would have made it relatively easily.

EDIT: Turns out to be the smart call as Presley brings him in.

With the top 6 in the lineup hitting reasonably well we almost look competent at the plate. Now if we could just do something about the automatic outs in the 7 and 8 spots; giving "Killer B's" a bad name.

The Pirates could trade for Carlos Zambrano, and have him bat 7th. He is a much more accomplished hitter than Barmes and Barajas.
