Pedro is looking better and better. We should be able to hit this guy. He doesn't look too tough.

5 run inning, I don't care how sun aided it was. Pedro HR #2, just a sweet inning, finally!

Back to back and both were crushed. Dare I say Pedro is looking much better...even made a good play in the field.

Not entirely. Breaking balls away still baffle him, and he's got issues with early swing commitment. But he's certainly doing a better job making solid contact when he actually hits the ball. Kudos to him.

Let's petition Baseball America to write further disparaging accounts of his career. :)

Would have to agree with J_C.

Still, I think a case could be made that this is the best he has looked since his only "tear" of last season. That began July 30 with a HR off Cliff Lee. From then until Aug. 4, he went 7-for-24 (.291), adding a double against Randy Wells of the Cubs. The rest of the way he had only 9 more hits in 64 at-bats -- all but two of them singles.

Pedro, so much depends on you. Keep it up, big guy.

Could have easily been a sweep. How bout the MLB record too? 17 and counting.

better than the other on-going record (20 and counting).

Credit to the pitchers. I like what I see from the staff (though you may recall the staff was pretty sharp the first half of last year too, before the free fall). This year, with the veteran presence of Bedard (please stay off the DL) and AJ, maybe we can keep solid pitching going longer.

Nice work today by Ground Chuck and JMac (tough luck).

Wow ... surprising that the Pirates were just 2 games under .500 after 18 games last year, when they were outscored by 22 runs.

That is actually very difficult to do. (And, as we saw the second half, darn difficult to maintain.)

The RS is worrisome, but... *whistles* gotta love that RA -33 differential!

It's equally encouraging that the RS/RA differential has lessened, too.
