I'm looking forward to watching the Bucs face Moyer. I hope we smack that soft-serve crap all over the place.

I truly hope that the Pirates took notes from the way that some of the Cardinals approached hitting Bedard. Don't be pull happy. Sit back and take the outside soft stuff to right field. The right field scoreboard should be dented to hell tonight with balls flying off of it. Chances are that Moyer won't give anything hittable on the inside part of the plate so the approach should be to pound the ball to the opposite field. Patience. Patience. Patience.

Yeah, you gotta go with the pitches and really sit back. Try and pull and you gotta 6-3 in the book... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Indeed.

Hope to see that as well.

Fun fact concerning Moyer heard the other night on the play-by-play of an Indy game: When he and Madison Bumgarner of the Giants opposed each other in Denver on April 12, that represented the greatest age differential (27 years) between two MLB starting pitchers in the same game since Satchel Paige of the Royals pitched against Bill Monbouquette of the Red Socks in 1965. At the time, Paige was 59 and Monbouquette was 29.

Woo hoo! Tabata successfully bunts Presley from 2nd to 3rd with no outs in the first. I'm sure that will make everyone on this board deliriously happy.

I also heard the staggering statistic recently that Moyer has faced 9% of all MLB batters.

That is absolutely fascinating...WOW! I really hope he makes it to age 50, that would be an amazing feat.

Or 5-3 or F-8, etc, etc. I just don't understand the approach at the plate. Tabata tries to pull outside pitches. Cutch tries to pull outside pitches. McGehee tries to pull outside pitches. Uuuuuuugh.

And now Walker tries to pull one. 6-3.

And Barajas pulls an outside pitch for a looping single.

So the game would be tied if anyone besides Barajas had been on base for that Barmes double. Instead we get a 2 out Correia AB.

If the Pirates lose tonight, blame Clint Hurdle for not bunting Walker in the 7th with guys on 1st and 2nd with nobody out and a patient, solid contact hitter coming up in Navarro who hit the ball to the wall.

It was so frustrating but thank God we won.

It seems so simple. Don't swing at pitches below your knees, and take the pitch on the outside corner to right field. That's all Moyer has is the fact that he can put the ball on the outside corner at the knees. McGehee did well because he just stood there and took his walks. Barajas looked especially inept up there.
