Burnett has not control in the first. As Blass said,. he is all over the place. It's ugly. No doubt he is not ready yet.

Okay, as soon as I post this, he rallies for two Ks and a lineout after loading the bases. I love eating my words. :)

With a dash of humble sauce?
He's since retired ten straight at this moment.

Anyone doubting whether alvarez cares can stop. You don't manufacture the excitement he showed running to first after an RBI single to right field. Hope he's getting himself right. Be nice for him to feel some extended success.

For those of you who didn't see it. Pirates get two runners on with two outs in the 8th. Presley singles, steals second and then Tabata walks. With McCutchen up, the Pirates attempt a double steal and Tabata is thrown out at second.

Let the debate continue from the other thread.

Tabata looks bad. Looks slow and obviously bad at the plate. As for the debate...in that situation catcher typically picks slowest runner. That would definitely be tabata.

On a different note ... McCutchen and perhaps Alvarez hit fly balls that would have been out in warmer weather.

McCutchen also blistered one off the right field fence and scored both runs.

Alvarez drove him in twice with singles.

Absolutely. McCutchen is just crushing the ball lately. Here's hoping tonight will bolster Pedro's confidence and lead to bigger things. All in all, a fantastic game.

That was a good night. Both Bernett and Alvarez showed promise and Cutch is really hitting this year. We might be starting a run. Especially happy about Bernett -- surprise starter and 7 great innings is great for the whole team.

Yes ;) ;) ;) ;)

That ball Cutch hit was crushed right at the 383 sign, off the bat it looked like a sure HR. 45 and rainy had to have knocked it down.

Pedro had good at bats all 4 trips, he was also robbed of a hit in his first ab by Descalso.

Don't apologize, he was terrible. And then he was great. Quite a turnaround.

Alvarez is the most efficient hitter in baseball. Drives in a run every time he gets a hit.
