Good Win. Great Pitching. Some clutch hitting. Lots of contributors. Let's get to it!

WP: Lincoln
Save: Cruz
Hold: Resop
Hold: Watson

Star # 3 Walker...a so-so day for Walker... Two double plays nearly made him the goat, but ultimately, he came through when it mattered most to tie the game for the Bucs. In all, he went 1-4 with an RBI

Star #2 Cutch. He keeps on hitting. Two more hits today, plus a walk has him hitting .400.

Star #1 Alvarez. He had just one hit, but what a hit it was....game winning HR... to go along with some really good defense. He has actually been hitting the ball pretty well of late. They will start dropping. He is a notoriously slow starter. Of course, all you naysayers will be jumping on the bandwagon when he gets it going.

Honorable Mention: He only lasted 4 innings...partly because of our lack of offense...he threw a lot of pitches, but all in all, JMac did his part.... a solid 4 innings, which contributed to our win. Lincoln was great out of the pen. Just one hit, but 3 walks, to go with 4 strikouts in 3 innings. Good job.

THE STANDINGS

ACutch 11.0
Presley 8.0
Walker 8.0

Alvarez hit a game-tying home run, not a game-winning home run. And Brad Lincoln deserves to be one of the three stars, and probably #1. He not only pitched 3 scoreless innings to register the win; he also saved a depleted Bucs' bullpen from over-extending itself.

I'd do this:

#3 star -- Walker -- game-winning RBI when luck finally goes his way.
#2 star -- Alvarez -- game-tying home run, walk, and overall good approaches at the dish.
#1 star -- Lincoln -- came in on his first day with the big club this year and locked down the win with 3 scoreless innings out of the 'pen.

HM -- McCutchen and Cruz.

I agree with JC on this one...Both of Walker's double plays were hit pretty well. He has had some bad luck early on before that RBI single late in the game.

Lincoln saved the bullpen especially with Hanrahan not available today.

Ask and you shall receive...okay, upon further review, I am making some changes....
I don't know what I was thinking, getting Alvarez and Walker's hits mixed up.

How about some love for Barmes? Maybe a HM. Nice at bat in the first to move runner up, sac. on another at bat, a hit, and made some nice defensive plays, the game ending one was real nice. Just a thought. Not a big Barmes guy yet, but he did everything ask of him yesterday out of the 2 hole.

I thought about that too...some complain when I give out too many honorable mentions... but let's do it...adding an HM for Barmes.

You say this like it's only a few random Pirate fans that doubt his ability at this point, when in fact it's prob over 90% of us.

I still have some doubts but I swear it looks like Pedro's pitch recognition is slowly but surely getting better. Maybe it's certain delivery styles he's blind to...but he appeared to be seeing the ball really well against Hudson yesterday.
