Star # 3: Chris Resop came in with 2 on and no outs in the 6th and did his job, keeping it a one run game.
Star #2: Clint Barmes had his first hit as a Buc...a HR, and the Pirates first of the year, I believe. Only Run for Bucs.
Star #1: Not much to cheer about, but GJones had two hits including a double, and could have scored with more timely hitting.

Loss: Bedard

Goat: Was going back and forth between Alvarez, Walker, and Barajas, who were a combined 0-10 in the 4, 5, and 7 spots in the order. Alvarez added an error. Barajas had a SB against him. I am giving goat to Barajas, who also stranded two runners including Jones at 2b.

I'll say it again....the "Goat" is the Pirate offense. You win as a team and you lose as a team.

All of the Pirate starting position players have to start hitting for run production in the key situations no matter who is at the plate at the moment.

I blame the all of the Pirates who are not hitting (which happens to be most all of them).

It is, AGAIN, a replay of the 2011 season. Pitching is doing it's job and the offense is woefully lacking.

Ah, the days when the Pirates were the Lumber Co. Who would have thought that the Pirates are now an anemic group of bats. :?

I'd have Watson instead of Resop. Watson came in with the bases loaded against Loney and got out of the inning without giving up a run. It was still just a one run game at the time. 'Twas huge.
