Hmm. Interesting lineup.

I get benching GJ since his career OPS is 170 points lower vs. lefties, but Pedro is a (small sample size, but still) career .836 OPS vs. Lefties, which is higher than McGehee (.820)...

Of course, according to BR.com, neither Pedro or McGehee have faced Cliff.

Thanks for posting the lineups IA -- can always count on you.

Good Hague needs to play and McGehee came to be playing. Let's do the Rightie/ lefty thing and let's see what we got. Best hitter should win the time.

Surprises me that Hague is in the 4 spot. That's a WOW for sure.

Not true. Pedro hit a two-run HR off him last July 30 at Philadelphia. To be even more specific, it came in the top of the 4th on a no-ball, no-strike count with Brandon Wood aboard.

1.) Phillies get two men on with no outs in the first inning
2.) Their #3 hitter (Rollins) lays down a perfect bunt and moves both runners over to 3B and 2B
3.) The Phils then proceed to get an infield hit (Pence) and score the runner from 3B.
4.) Early one run lead by playing small ball from a very good offensive team.

A scenario that sounds familiar? If the Phils can do it, the Pirates should be able to do it...especially the Pirates who are offensively challenged...

Wow...3 hits in 14 innings. Barmes, Barajas and McGehee really upgraded this offense.

Karstens throws 85 pitches through 6 innings in a 1-0 ballgames & you yank him? 85 pitches?

Most of these guys are pulled after 90 pitches this time of year. Plus you need to score.

That doesn't bother me in the first start of the year.

Holy smokes, this is the worst offensive lineup in baseball. Yuck.

With the sudden explosion of the M's offense (Chone Figgins lives?!) it's not out of the question.

Of course, there are the A's... (who may also be the worst defensive bunch, neck and neck with Detroit).

the phillies arn't hitting much better, and they don't have the excuse of hitting against halliday and lee, they got bedard and karstens, look at the bright side, the pitching has been great and the hitting should get a little better once they are not facing elite cy young winners

The main difference being that Andrew McCutchen is a genuine No. 3 hitter, while Rollins has no business batting there.

Looked like runs were going to be hard to come by, so I had no problem with it, especially since the first was such a long inning.
