To me, the All-Star Game is the only time the DH makes any sense.

Rolen starting, let alone being in the game. Wow.

I know fielder is a little chunky and out of shape, and berkmans knees aren't that great these days. But does bochy really think he needs to play both of them at first base??

Halladay is on the mound, there will be lots of K's...

Plus someone has to feed Prince and water him down in the hot Arizona sun...

I agree with the DH. The ASG is perfect for having the DH.

Who wants to see pitchers try to hit in an ASG? I know I don't. The DH should be a standard position for the ASG. :D

Barry Larkin just made his prediction for All-Star Game MVP on SportsCenter:

"With all the good stuff that is happening in Pittsburgh this year, I think Andrew McCutchen is going to come off the bench and drive in the game-winning run! And then Joel Hanrahan is going to come in and shut it down for the save!"

From his lips to God's ears.

Cutch gonna get an AB? Hanny gonna pitch the 8th?

Cutch is mathematically guaranteed an AB. Don't know about Hammer. Another Braves reliever was warming up.

Update: Cutch will lead off the 8th.

You have to think that Bochy will bring in his closer in the ninth so the 8th is likely Hammer's only shot.

Even if Starlin Castro hadn't crapped the bed on that grounder to short, I'm guessing Wilson would have been brought in to get the final out.

Maybe not. It wouldn't have been a save situation if he hadn't.

Think of it this way: Thanks to tonight, should our heroes defy all odds and make it to the post-season, then shock the world by beating the Phillies in the NLCS, they'll have the home field advantage in the 2011 World Series! Picture red, white, and blue bunting draped over the railings at PNC . . . only sooner than we expected. :o :o :o

Well, a guy can dream, can't he?
