Hurdle likes this lineup alot it seems, he just swaps jones and diaz. I would not mind putting d'arund at the bottom of the order to give that some speed and put harrison in the 2 spot, but this offense is doing enough right now to where they do not need to make a change.

Dang soriano in the 7th hole, that might be the best 7 hitter in baseball..

on a side note too, this year seems to not have a win that should have been a loss, but it has in my mind 3 losses that should be wins
at New York, blowing a 7 run lead
home against the braves, bases loaded 1 out tie game in the btm of the 9th and pearce grounds into a dp
at san diego when we blew a nice lead in the sixth
I may have forgotten a few

I rather see Brandon Wood get some playing time at 3rd, for a while there it looked like he was heating up.

Why Diaz against a RH pitcher?

d'Arnaud strikes out with runners on first and second no outs. We need Cedeno back ASAP because he definitely gets that bunt down or at least puts it into play. Luckily Walker doubled right after that.

I not only want to see the Bucs win big to earn a win but also to improve the RS/RA ratio so that the "real win" is worth something more than 1.0 "expected wins."

What a game by Maholm! He was in control from the beginning. Three more outs to keep the momentum going into the break...

You know things are going your way when Jones hits a 2-out, 2-rbi double off a lefty

Let me be the first to say it ... Raise the Jolly Roger!

Buccos stomp the hapless Cubs, 9-1. Rumor is that Aramis Ramirez has asked to be traded to the Pirates to get away from the losing and to play for a winner. :D

Excellent win. Truly excellent.

And, perhaps most importantly, it added 1.52 to the Bucs' expected wins total which might actually mean that some of the stat-head doubters will start believing as well!!!!

Now there's a post I didn't think I'd ever read out of this group. My how times change our perspective. Not saying that I disagree but that's a WOW.

Long time no posting here but isn't this great!

47-43 into All-Star break, only 35 wins away from a winning season with 72 games to play.

Good to have you back, Eric, and it is great that the Pirates are winning, and that their winning is kindling renewed interest among long-time fans who had lost the faith.

43 wins from likely winning the NL Central. Honestly, that is what I am looking at. I believe that 90 victories wins the NL Central and puts the Pirates in the playoffs.
