Hope Cutch can hit one out and Karstens pitches a gem. Wandy has quietly been a very good pitcher for 3+ years now. IMO, he's their most valuable trading chip, not Pence.

Me too! It reminded me of the old packs of cloth stickers (from Fleer maybe) that I used to get in the early 70s. Probably 71 or 72. They'd have a team logo like that one...or maybe the Baltimore Oriole swinging his bat...and then the name of the city in a smaller separate arched sticker. I had a rolltop desk that was completely covered with those things.

My concern is that the Pirates are subject to being shut down by lefty pitchers. A significant part of their offense now comes from Presley, Jones, and Walker, all of whom hit righties better (or MUCH better in Jones' and Walker's case).

Is it just me, or does it seem that Karstens would rather give a guy a swing at a ball down the middle than walk him when there's no one on base? I'm not going to knock the guy with the 2.61 ERA, but it's interesting. He simply will not walk people.

Make them earn it. Even down the middle with a little movement, you are going to get outs. I'd rather take my chances than hand out free passes.

I think hell just froze over with that suicide squeeze play. A pitcher executing a perfect squeeze play with perhaps the slowest runner on the team at 3rd base. Way to go Karstens and great call by Hurdle.
