Only slightly worse than giving up a lead-off BB the inning after taking a 1-run lead.

Should be over 100 pitches after this inning. I imagine the pullpen will be taking it over the rest of the way.

A good day from McDonald, for the most part, compared to his recent starts. 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

I'll take it. Maybe there will be an Animal Star in his future?

Actually it is 0 earned runs which is one of my big issues with how stats are compiled. If the pitcher commits the error that allows the run the run should still get charged against the pitcher IMO.

MLB.com box score has it as 1 ER.

Edit: Well, they must have just changed it. 0 ER it is for McDonald.

I like d'Arnaud's hustle for sure.

Man, listening to this on TV Bob was FURIOUS about Miller throwing at Fryer. That was really funny.

True though, it's not like Pedroia got hit. He notoriously stands all over the plate, it's not like JMac is the first guy to go up and in on him.

I definately know where you are coming from and understand your argument....but regardless of who makes the error, it is still "unearned" as per the rules. You could say it was the pitchers FAULT it was unearned but still unearned nonetheless.

Throwing inside is part of the game. People get way too upset about inside pitches that never hit anyone. I was personally a little turned off the ump would warn the benches over a pitch thrown at the batters feet. We are getting way too soft here.

Pedroia is the last guy who should be barking. MCDonald was effectively wild, not throwing at anyone. :o :o :o :o

Do not like the way this game is developing. Mistakes. Mistakes. Mistakes.

Ugh.

This should be a loss. No way we deserve to win this game. The defense has been putrid. The baserunning as well. And then our pansies come out of the bullpen and walk the first two batters in the 7th inning in a tie game. They should be tarred and feathered.

If they can get out of bases loaded with 0 outs with only giving up 2 runs, I think I'll take that.

Can't disagree with BB (above). Still, this has been a game that didn't need to be lost. Perhaps it will help teach them that to be a contender, you cannot screw up on the bases, make horrible throwing errors, and walk hitters in the late innings of a tie game.

Or leave 8 men on base, as McCutchen, Walker, Diaz, and Overbay have. Diaz, I never expect much from anyway, but McCutchen and Walker have not had a productive series: 3-for-20 with 5 strikeouts. Get it back in gear, gentlemen.

It happens. I will take the 2 out of 3 from the Sox and 4 out of 6 in interleague play.

Go get 'em Tuesday.

We just can't continue to run Diaz out there and worse yet, bat him at a key spot in the order. What has he done this year to deserve the #5 spot? Not a thing. Cut him.

The fact that he also brings no power to the table is really kind of mind-boggling.

Couldn't be more pround of this bucco club taking 2 out of 3 from the mighty 150 million dollar + payroll Sox.

Today was a product of what we're going to see until this club puts it all together. Defensive errors, baserunning blunders, not coming through with monster offensive innings when you have bases loaded with no one out, walks, unearned runs.

As good as this club is going to be they're going to have these kind of games while they grow and mature in a division winner.
