Get a DP grounder, Veras.

Or face the angry horde.

He didn't walk him, Bourgeois singled, but Veras had fallen behind the first three batters. 0-2 on Pence at least.

Ugh, 3-0 on El Caballo, so he gives in and fortunately he ripped it foul

Raise it ... terrifyingly, but what the hell? Raise the darn thing anyway.

Sitting at Birmingham airport . . . listening on my iPhone. Veras is making me want to puke my guts up.

From clips of the fans ... I know why Carlos Lee likes playing for Houston.

He is positively svelte compared to a lot of the fans.

God Bless Joel Hanrahan. The Pirates are officially not allowed to trade him. Without him, the ninth inning becomes a circus of horrors.

A fitting end to a mostly ugly game, I suppose.

For the first, but hopefully not last time this season:

Side note: I'm pretty sure I could have run out that grounder for a safe call. And I had reconstructive knee surgery on May 11.

Just sayin'.

Lee hit a hard grounder to Wood at 3rd, who booted the ball 40' towards SS, ran over, got the ball, fired to first and beat Lee by 1/4 step.

I was going to start a thread, saying exactly this.

We presume that leads are safe in the 9th inning because of Hanrahan. How soon we forget the troubles of Matt Capps, etc.
