It's sad that this is only a one run game, yet I feel so hopeless about their chances of winning.

On paper, this team looks worse than ours, but somehow it isn't.

They don't have Wright, Reyes, Bay, or Davis playing today, yet are beating us off of groundballs. While our lineup can't even make contact. When our lineup plays like this, they're not going to beat anybody. It's going on June here, and we're still yet to see any explosiveness out of anybody in this lineup outside of McCutchen (who is still swinging and missing at garbage way too much) and Walker. Tabata has been useless since his injury. Jones/Overbay are sad excuses of middle order bats. How much longer do we give them?

Easy goat now. Leadoff walk after you just tie the game up? You get the goat just for that. Then it turns into two runs. D-Cutch has been great this year, but that was typical Pirates.

Since May 20th, Tabata has hit safely in 7 of 8 games, hitting .367, and an onbase % of .457...

It wasnt the injury it was hitting 2nd...He has an OPS of .844 batting leadoff.

Jose Ascanio is officially the white flag for this team. That's not an indictment of him. My point is Clint Hurdle puts him in with a two-run deficit and that is a sign that Hurdle knows what he has with his offense. Two runs is pretty much insurmountable for this team.

Do what I do ... they make you sick, change the channel. Did not take long tonight.

Strike 3 glances off Snyder's mitt. Ehh, this is going to get ugly.

Just so effing glad I benched Pagan in my UPPMB leage tonight.

Wow, just not... just brutal... just... wow...

The 'good news' is that a win tomorrow keeps the Bucs .500 for May. Also, the rest of the Mets SP's for the series are not nearly as 'stellar' as Gee is (at least on paper):

Dickey (2-5, 4.5) , Capuano (3-5, 4.94) and Pelfrey (3-4, 5.00)

Come on Bucs! Win tomorrow! We can beat these chumps!

Well, at least we know he's our leadoff guy then.

It's major league baseball. They play 162 games, and some of them are going to be complete stinkers. As long they're far between, I'm not going to worry about another 100+ loss season. I actually have a good feeling they're going to win today.

Offensively, they are not far between. It's rare to see this team really perform at even an average level this season. They have no power whatsoever. They have no timely hitting whatsoever. They're dreadful at simply making contact. Paul Maholm's W/L record is a perfect example of how bad they are.

Hell, if it wasn't for the starting pitching (which has probably overachieved to this point), this team would be just as bad as last year, if not worse.

I disagree. While the hitting has been atrocious, you cannot say the same for the defense and pitching. Most games, those two have been good enough to keep the team in the game. Last night, however, the wheels came off the defense and the bullpen blew a tie ballgame.
