Well, at least it won't be a no-hitter.

games like this really bring you down. What? 12 Ks in8-- maholm's 7 good innings going to waste. After the first he was tuff tonight.

Was just about to post this myself.

Now I'm starting to get mad. 20+ scoreless innings, wasting good pitching performances, K'ing far too much, leaving runners on...

I know this team is young and inexperienced, but they're better than this and/or their 5-7 record indicates.

Someone needs to step up in the clubhouse and light a fire or something.

Does that count as scoring a run???

Fitting that the game ends on a K.

We're better than this.

Wait -- doesn't everyone score by getting 2 walks and a wild pitch?

This is hilarious. First run in 24 innings and it scores on a wild pitch.

I did a little fast research: Beginning with the bottom of the 5th on Sunday vs. Colorado, our heroes have had 9 walks, 7 singles, and a double. That's it for offense. Oh, and 25 strikeouts. And one runner picked off.

And the double REALLY should have been ruled an error on Braun!

Cardinals currently are beating the Dodgers. If that holds, hello 5th place, 1-1/2 games ahead of Houston. Bucs could be in the cellar by Sunday.

In baseball, you are what your record says you are. And the Pirates' record and statistics say that they're a below-average team with awful hitting.

Even in their wins, they left a ton of guys on base by striking out or hitting into double-plays. They've been terrible offensively, they just got a little bit of timely hitting in the first two series, and haven't seen it again since. It's a shame too, given how good their pitching has been, and how good their 1-6 spots in the lineup look on paper.

I refuse to start another game thread until one of the following occurs:

A. The Pirates win two games in a row;
B. Pedro Alvarez (starting third baseman on J_C_Steel's fantasy baseball team) hits a home run; or
C. The Pirates score 7 or more runs in a game.

I get that, but I see loads of potential and greatness in this team.

It probably won't come to fruition for another year, but... I still see it, damn it! :D

Well, C has occurred. Way to hit the extra point today to take a 7-6 decision from the Reds, Pirates...
